Re: Travis/Thomas
"Varsity isn't exactly contact sports, or doesn't have to be," he said laughing. "You could have picked track and field. No contact whatsoever. I ran, long jump. I wasn't much of a team player, because I moved so much. Track and field was all about me and what I could do."
Travis chuckled. "And that's why I knew that I probably wouldn't be able to explain in a way you'd understand. I didn't pick friends. I was threw into homes and those people could be friends or not. Life was much better when they were my friends."
He shook his head. "You can't even imagine, can you? Having no options, no choices, except what you make of them. I mean most people can't, but you're on a different level. I trust my friends. I trust them to have my back and I will do anything for my friend. I faced criminal charges to protect my friends, I've faced bullets for partners. It's not a fairy tale, it's what happens to common people who need to rely on others. It wasn't just the force. I grew up literally putting my life in the hands of people I just met and I was lucky. I know others who weren't so lucky and it wouldn't be right if I were a dick."
