Emily chuckled. "Callen doesn't suggest, so much as tell. But, for your sake, I'll just hope a day doesn't come when we need you to go undercover at one of these events where you might have to dance."
Shrugging one shoulder, she took another sip of champagne. "Parts of it were fake. Parts weren't. Just like this world or Dom's world. It's politics. Appearances matter. Smiling pleasantly and doing what's expected matters. That person whose face you want to smash in one night could turn out to be the person whose vote you need to get funding for an important project the next morning. It's a chess game. And I know there's chess in your world. I've played against John once or twice.
"But, this is a wedding and not really the place for political discussions that are likely to become depressing and dull by the very nature of politics. Are you sure I can't entice you join me on the dance floor for even a basic waltz? Or am I doomed to having to find some other dashing man to take the honor for this one?"
