Re: Elaine/Nell
Nell shook her head. "It's not my job to teach you all the differences between dimensions, for one thing. It's my job to teach you the basic things anyone needs to know to get along in this world: denominations of bills and coins, the current president, who won the super bowl, things the average person would reasonably be expected to know if they were to have a random conversation with someone in a grocery store or at the concerts on Saturday nights. The thing is, ma'am, it's up to you to determine how what you know from home can help you survive in this world. It's up to me to teach you how this world works, whether it's different or the same. The differences are fun for me to learn on a personal level. But, it's not my job and it's why I don't push the comparisons unless questions arise.
"And part of that is precisely because I do only have a few days. Of course, a week is not enough time for even an expert to teach all the differences between worlds. But, there is an expectation that people will do their own research. The goal is not to teach you everything, but to teach you enough." Nell smiled pleasantly. "It's an ongoing process, ma'am. The few days with me is simply a jump start to get you going on your own."
