He leaned forward and lowered his voice. "I'll tell you a secret, Ms. Jones. If he's a real politician, he'll fool his twin brother too." Doug had never counted that TJ would have cared. He probably wouldn't have if Garcetti hadn't died and their mother had started to look for him. If it weren't for the president's death, he would have gotten married with none of them there.
Doug shrugged. "It's the campaign. It's tiring, it's sleepless, you have the press spying on you, and for a time I thought that I was done with all of that, but then we started running again and I couldn't stop." He chuckled, even though he knew that it wasn't funny. It was weird and very few people understood. Susan understood. Work before anything. "I would have needed time for me to remember that we were apart. Now, this is different. There's plenty of time to think."
