"That's kind of romantic, actually. Ditching the big, society wedding for something small and with family." Nell couldn't imagine that had gone easily, though, once the rest of Washington got wind of what happened. Even in the relatively unimportant circles her mother had been part of, being shut out of a big deal event like that would not have gone over well with a lot of people.
Smiling sympathetically, she nodded understanding. It couldn't be easy being separated from a spouse like this. Though she'd never really known him well, she remembered the sense of melancholy that would seem to occasionally settle over Agent Burke at these kind of gatherings. "Was she able to go with you on the campaign trail much? Or, was it pretty much a skype-relationship for months? That's what my eldest brother and his wife resort to when he's overseas, when he can, at least. It's not always secure. My other brother was running for local office when I got here. But, he isn't married. Well, I guess he could be by now. Wow. That's a weird thought."
