Re: Doug and TJ
"What? I can't just be trying to make the best of a bad situation?" With anyone else, TJ would have seriously tried to pull off the innocent routine. But, this was his twin. If there was anyone who actually knew him outside of the face he wore for the world and their family's reputation, it was Doug. Maybe Nana, but there were things you just didn't share with your grandmother, even one like theirs.
"It's good cake." He offered. Sighing, he found somewhere to set the cake down and then put both hands on his brother's shoulders. "Come on. We've spent the last week getting our asses kicked by one very large, very scary man, and doing our own driving up a road so bent I look straight by comparison. I can't even smoke in the house without locking my bedroom door and opening a window like when we were kids and I snuck a little pot into the house. My muscle aches have muscle aches. You're stuck here without a campaign or an election. I haven't seen my club, the first successful thing I've done in ages, more than a dozen times since it opened. Can you blame me for needing to relax a little in the best way I know how?"
Smiling, he squeezed Doug's shoulders, then let go. "I'm sure Nana won't mind sharing that flask if you ask nicely."
