Derek chuckled. "I think we're the token straight singles, which sort of defies the purpose when they pair us up because 'there's no one else'. It's going to be 'us' for a while. They pretend to be all friendly, but some things... Let's just say that they don't trust as much as I thought at the beginning. As long as we both know the deal, we're good, right?"
He put an arm around her, but it wasn't possessive in the list, more protective. He'd learned to recognize her mood from the way she stood and by how many words she shared, and even without that knowledge this couldn't be easy. "It really doesn't matter to me. If you want to try it, we can stay for a while and if things get too much we can say we decided to have a private party, or we can just leave. I don't want you to be uncomfortable in any way and you shouldn't be pushed into having sex." He groaned when he heard what he said. "I mean... You know I'll just stop talking now."
