Email about the wedding Who: Troy, Sean, Sam, Nell, Callen, Jenna, Savannah, Robert and Alexis Where: Computers When: September 6, 2012 Summary: Troy and Sean need to ask something
From: Troy To: Sam, Nell, Callen, Jenna, Savannah, Robert and Alexis Cc: Sean Subject: the wedding
We know this is short notice, but with this being a same-sex, interfaith marriage using fake names, we've had to do a lot of research (and yes, my mother would be ashamed that I never paid attention to these things back at home) and a little improvisation.
Anyway, I'm sure you all know that we asked Nell and Sam to be our witnesses at the wedding. However, part of the wedding includes reciting the seven blessings. The blessings are done in Hebrew, but when one of the spouses doesn't speak Hebrew, people read the translation. We'd like the seven of you to do it, but we understand if for religious reasons, you'd rather not. The blessings are:
1. Blessed are Thou LORD our god, king of the universe, who created all things for his Glory 2. Blessed are Thou LORD our god, king of the universe, Fashioner of the man 3. Blessed are Thou LORD our god, king of the universe, who formed the man in His image, in the image of the semblance of His likeness and prepared for him from Himself a building for eternity. Blessed art Thou, Lord, who fashioned the man 4. May the barren one exult and jubilantly rejoice through the regathering of her children amidst her in gladness. Blessed art Thou LORD who makes Zion rejoice with her children. 5.Gladden the beloved companions as you made glad your creation in the garden of Eden from days of old. Blessed art Thou LORD who gladdens both grooms. 6. Blessed art Thou LORD our God, King of the universe, who created joy and gladness, both grooms, rejoicing, glad song, pleasure, delight, love, brotherhood, peace and companionship. Soon, Lord our God, let there be heard in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem the sound of joy and the sound of gladness, the voice of both grooms, the sound of jubilation of groom from their canopies and of youths from their feasts of song. Blessed art Thou, Lord, who gladdens the grooms. 7. Blessed art Thou LORD our God, king of the universe, Creator of the fruit of the vine.
The order we were thinking is the following: 1. Nell 2. Robert 3. Jenna 4. Callen 5. Alexis 6. Sam 7. Savannah
Again if you don't feel comfortable for any reason, we're not going to get offended.
