RP: Elaine and Bud
Who: Elaine and Bud Where: common area When: evening, September 6, 2012 Summary: Bud talks to Elaine
Bud was in a sour mood today. This was supposed to be Elaine's day. The day when she accepted their party's nomination for President. A party they had spent their entire adult lives working for. She was going to be President and do so much for the country that they had committed their lives to. And then in a literal blink of an eye, that was all gone. There would be no spousal address for Bud to give. No nomination for Elaine to accept. Back home, there was undoubtedly turmoil as the nation grappled with the disappearance of the Hammonds. As their party anxiously sought to pick up whatever pieces they could to try to win an all-important contest in November. Elections have consequences, and Bud knew it mattered who you elected. He hoped that Collier wasn't going to be able to step in to lead the party; he hoped that they he was too damaged, too bloodied to be accepted by the party. But he banished those thoughts when Elaine walked into the room.
"Sugar," he said with a small smile while his eyes were filled with regret, and he imagined that sight he so longed to see: Her walking out to the podium, waving to a stadium full of supporters, and uttering those 11 words. "How are you?"
