Summary: Elaine is trying to make sense of things
Elaine had spent the day yesterday going through paperwork, answering and asking questions and reading newspapers. It was like being back in DC. The only thing missing was the campaigning. She still hadn't come to term with the fact that she would not be president when the polls had given her as the favorite. No, she was too busy catching up with things here.
She had thought about staying in her room, but that wasn't a room. It was a closet and it was making her claustrophobic, and besides, she needed to know the people here. The common room seemed the best place to be with people (including her family) going in and out. Elaine had the computer that they had given her and was getting up for another refill (at least the liquor was decent) when she saw a woman taking a seat nearby. "Good morning," she said, sitting down and taking a sip.
