"Despite names, titles and divisions of jobs, we've always managed to work together, and I'm sure this won't be a problem, either," Derek put in. "I think the biggest hurdle we're having is that based on one discussion, you're already a few steps ahead of us, Sir." It wasn't uncommon. They were agents and they were used to working on the most immediate case or problem, looking at the most recent evident, reacting to the issues at hand. Vance was already planning what they'd be doing on Labor Day of 2013.
"No, the biggest problem we have is that these aren't self-important 'noobs'. They are a President and a Secretary of State of a different dimension. Can you imagine the type of information they could share" The thought was enough to make Leon salivate, and he'd had to curtail his own natural curiosity. "I've already moved everyone around so we have eyes on all of them and we have potentially the ability to get all of them out, but you're right, Mr. Morgan, I am planning ahead, because we don't have much room for mistakes here."
He turned to Prentiss. "They both might know your mother. She was appointed under Clinton, wasn't she? He might have appointed her." Leon looked at Callen again. "If these were normal people, we'd get one or two, they'd spend a few days talking to Ms. Jones and then they'd be in training, correct? Then let's split them. Ms. Jones can take the kids and Ms. Prentiss can take parents and grandmother. It'd cut down on time and by Thursday, you can have them ready for training, because the alternative is having them with Ms. Jones for a week, and then we're looking at one more week when you're planning a wedding and a trip.
"I've also spoken to Mr. Marks and I've asked him to keep an eye on Thomas." He had done that the moment Dom had mentioned the family history, but the request for AA meetings proved that he was right. "I've also spoken to Mr. Kinney about the need not to share any substances he might have." He hadn't mentioned that little transaction from Amsterdam for marijuana seeds, but that could wait too. "We might even get him to detox before we take that vacation."
"Sir, if he is an addict, he will find a way to get his hands on whatever he takes," Derek pointed out.
"I know that, Mr. Morgan, which is exactly why I'd rather have him training with you than sitting around an office with Kinney," Leon answered. "However if the past two days are any indications, he's not the only one with a problem. Most of the bottles in the common rooms are empty, and while everyone needs time to adjust, none of us dried out the state to do it."
