So many issues in such a short time. g would have laughed if there'd been anything remotely funny about any of it. Instead, he bit back a sigh and stood up, hands on his hips as he regarded both young women a moment.
"Okay, first things first. How're the ribs?" he asked, wanting to know how much damage control he was about to do.
"April, you would have no choice but to make us all guinea pigs if you intend to do research on what Savannah or anyone else who shows signs of powers in the future can do. Who else are you going to study? There's no one else and in order to do what you ask, you'd be forcing Savannah to do something she has told you she will not do. That sound like a guinea pig to me." G shook his head. That would happen over G's dead body. "And I haven't even touched on the security issues such research creates in light of our current situation. The kind of research you're suggesting leaves a paper trail, something we've been particularly trying to avoid by having you bring the results of the tests for Savannah here and then destroying them. It requires blood samples that need to be stored, that can be used to identify any of us. It creates a record of any weakness that could be used against us as more of us discover their powers. There is nowhere on this base you can consider safe for that, not even Abby's lab or the morgue. There is no place here they don't have access to, only places they allow us the illusion of safety within.
"I understand your concerns. But, in this, you're going to have to do the best you can in the moment if something happens."
And that left them with the third issue. He trusted Savannah's observation, but he also knew from his own experience you didn't always know when you did something. "Good job." He nodded at Savannah. "Vance has his own ways of knowing things and I wouldn't be surprised if he knows things unofficially about a lot of things. But, unless there's a reason to make it official, it's better not to for April's sake. What did it feel like, April? How much detail can you remember?"
