Nate chuckled. "Technically I didn't say you didn't, just that I haven't seen you not do it outside mealtime," he replied. "But fair enough, I stand corrected."
He nodded as the man went on, because he did understand working a lot. It was easy to imagine Sophie's voice telling him to stop, to do something different, to enjoy life. She was good at that, taking care of them, making them stop and think - even if he was very good at not listening to her until it was nearly too late. Not that he'd ever admit to her that she was right more often than she was wrong.
"I can't say I don't understand working a lot, especially when the job is enjoyable. I've been known to lose myself in a case or two." He had to admit he missed that. Not the jobs in themselves, well those too, but mostly the work with the team. Laying out a strategy for bringing down their mark, working with the others to make it come together and give the client back whatever had been taken from him or her. It was rewarding work.
"It must be frustrating not having the same resources," he said. "Though Nell must be an asset, she strikes me as a very intelligent woman and a sharp analyst." She too was someone he'd love to sit down with and really talk to some day soon. So far they'd spoken mostly with other people around, which was pleasant but different from a one on one conversation.
