She knew that something had happened, but April never talked about specifics, which didn't bother her at all. When the other woman was ready to talk about it, Abby knew she would.
"Given the fact many of our group will likely carry a gun, helping you become comfortable around guns makes sense and I understand it, but forcing you to go through training on how to fire one or become qualified to carry one isn't right," she replied. "It would be completely different if you asked him to show you how to use one, even if you know you never would use it against another person or creature. If that was what it was going to take to get you not to be afraid the people carrying guns, I would understand. But he didn't give you a choice. Just because he is patient with you doesn't take away from the fact he force you to do it in the first place."
Giving a sad shake of her head, she looked at April. "It's not the yelling that bothered me. It was the fact we're supposedly a team and yet none of us ever met and spoke to one another. Who else is one this team, April? Is it you and me? You, me and Agent Callen? Are we allowed to talk about it with Michael? A team means a group of individuals working together to achieve one goal, but you are not a team if no one talks to one another. If everyone goes through a signal person to get their information, it's a hierarchy; not a team."
Guilt hit her when April said she had very few friends; Abby had them in troves back home. At least, she had many people she considered her friends. However, things were too broken and shattered and she wasn't sure if they could ever be mended. "You are not annoying; I don't decide to live with annoying people," she said, hugging the other woman back. "I've lost friends too. Never seen them die, but I've lost them. They...they only pretended to be my friend so I would trust them, but now I'm not sure they'll ever be able to earn it back."
As for working with them, she didn't know if she could. With work being such a large part of her life and who she was, she didn't know if she could work with someone who never will trust her and think she's a traitor for not wanting to hit him. "Right now, I'd rather being jail and in trouble than work with them. I'm not cut out to be in the military or be treated like someone who is. I've never been good at following orders or even following superiors, but if asked to help...that I could do. Being forced or manintulated into doing something just makes me angry."
