RP: Family Dinner + one
Who:Jenna, Dom, Blaze, Sam, G, Robert, Mike, Liam, Savannah, Marty, Sean, Eric
Where:Sam, G, Savannah and Marty's house
When:April 22
Summary:It's Jenna's turn to cook.
While most people seemed to assume that Jenna hated cooking, they were actually wrong. She hated the assumption that she ought to cook all the time because she was a woman, that it was her responsibility. The cooking itself wasn't something she minded, and she did know how to make simple but flavorful food.
Today was no exception to that, and to get a head start she'd prepped her dishes early. Chicken legs were put in a huge pan together with potatoes, cocktail tomatoes and lots of garlic cloves. Olive oil, lemon, seasoning and the entire thing was done in less than twenty minutes. With some tin foil covering the pan, she put it in the fridge and started on dessert which was done just as quickly. Blueberries in a pan, make a crumble and cover them, tin foil over the entire thing and put it into the fridge for later. By nine am she was done and the kitchen clean and she could spend the day doing better things with her time. Like spending time with Dom or working out.
An hour before dinner she went to Savannah's to put the chicken in the oven, the blueberry crumble in the fridge and spend some time with Savannah before returning home to prepare a side salad and bring everything over to the right house. Handing the salad bowl to Dom to carry, she handed Eric the bag of ice cream so that she could get Blaze.
"Me?" he asked, looking completely and utterly dumbfounded.
"Yes, you," Jenna said, stopping in her tracks and looking at him. "I'm cooking, you live here, ergo you are included," she said as if it was the most natural thing in the world, which to her it was. She could see however, that it was clearly not natural to him and he looked more like a dear in headlights than someone just asked to come to dinner. "If Savannah wasn't on bed rest, we'd be here, and therefore so would you, therefore you should come. Unless you have other plans of course." She added, because the thought hadn't occurred to her until then. "Do you have plans or do you just not want to spend time with my crazy family? I would completely understand the latter," she added.
"Erm, no, bu-"
"Oh, good, then it's settled," she said, giving him a smile and the bag of ice cream and hurrying off to get Blaze. When they a while later arrived with everything, Eric still looked like he wasn't sure what he was doing there, and Jenna pretended not to notice as she said thank you for the carrying help and gently pushed him to the couch and told him to go and find a seat somewhere and announced that she'd invited him.
Really what was it about her father that had grown men nearly wetting their pants? She'd never get it.
