"No, but his experiences do," Hetty pointed out. "He is young, but from what I have seen, I don't believe he's been a child for some time. And he's going to do it whether you ask him to, want him to, or approve. He reminds me a great deal of another young man we both know, similar life experiences. But, there is one great difference between Mr. Callen and Mr. Connor -- Mr. Connor has a well developed sense of himself, his identity. He knows his role in life and he intends to fulfill it, despite the usual teenage rebellion against forces he can't control. And he's both willing and possibly capable, of using us to achieve his own goals."
Hetty nodded. There were days, moments, usually when she returned from one of her weekly visits with Cole, when she wondered if she'd done right in never marrying or having children. But, times like this, she was just as glad she hadn't. Her agents were her children, her job her spouse. It was better for her this way. "Perhaps, then, there's a reason you and he have been thrown together."
Chuckling, she smiled one of her ambiguous little smiles. "Your words, not mine, Leon. However, if there is fixing to be done, I wouldn't presume to make such an assignment until after speaking with Mr. Kinney. He may prove less...colourful...than his Omega counterpart, after all."
