RP: Everyone
Who: Everyone (starts with just the leads, later with everyone)
Where: his office
When: April 5, 2012
Summary: He talks to them about the new housing arrangements, move, etc.

Leon didn't like to waste time. He had a mental time table, but he was finding that he was pushing forward much faster. Maybe it was a gut feeling, or maybe he's just been in this business for so long that he knew that it was better to be safe than sorry. He planned to be ready to move as soon as possible, even if they ended up staying here for a while.

To this end, he called the two leads and asked them to meet him in the office at 1530. "Gentlemen, thank you for your promptness. First, when you go back, let people know that there will be no evacuation drills tonight. In fact, bring all of them here at 1730. I want to speak with all of them.

"I've made a decision about the housing." He hadn't missed Sam walking around last night or the moves that everyone had made to stay safe. "You were right that I rely on people to make the smart choice, because I'm used to dealing with agents that know how to stay alive, but perhaps that assumption has led to one too many deaths. So it stops," he said.

"Mr. Callen, after speaking with the people in question, and even though they have all agreed to work together, I feel that putting them in one house would exasperate the situation. In addition, there are a few things that I want to see changed. I'll stay where I am. You and Sam will move with Savannah and Deeks. If she is pregnant while we get attacked, the likelihoods of the stress and running inducing labor is very high. You'll end up needing someone to carry her and people to provide back up. Your brother and Renko will stay where they are. If Robert can teleport Liam and Savannah even better. Considering that it's the only place where they could start a surprise attack, it will position our best agents right up front. The reason for that assumption is that last night, every time Sam was going around, dogs were barking." Those dogs might just prove their best investment.

"Next, everthing in Dr. Kepner's house stays the same. In five, we put Sean, Troy, Alexis, Tim and Nell. We moved Dom and his family plus Eric in seven, and John and Brian on eight. Their orders will be to fly out to the truck and leave. I have to make sure that I get at least one tec out and John is the one who can do it without help. Mr. Morgan, you'll move to nine and the Morrows with Ashleigh will be on ten. We'll have four good shots on that side as well. I intent to make sure that I speak with the Morrows about that girl. Also, I want those nursery painted over, no traces of babies if we can manage it. In case these houses don't explode, I want them to think that there's one baby, since we can't hide Savannah's. She's been in town too many times and talked to too many people for people not to notice, but Kensi was never in town and Jenna was barely there. We'll make sure that any traces on our credit cards disappear and all the baby supplies was bought in Phoenix. It's not perfect, and when the time comes, there might still be traces of children, but I'd rather minimize the chances. Do you see any problems with these arrangements?"

Derek thought it over. "There will still be complaints about how uneven they are."

"That's fine. They can complain to me," he said, "but do you see any reasons you would complain?"

Derek shook his head. "No, I think we're good. I think we might want to talk with nick and Eliot. They can help that middle group too."

G was keeping himself to looking at things only from a strategic viewpoint. He'd been burned too often lately trying to take feelings into consideration. Of course, that didn't apply to Savannah, who he knew would be complaining to him and not Vance if she didn't get to use her Princess nursery. "No concerns jump out at me immediately. I think Morgan's right that you'll get some complaints from others if anyone takes the time to notice you just moved John and Kinney into a three bedroom house for just the two of them. But, if you want him to go, there really isn't any other way to do it. He won't leave Kinney to fend for himself if he can help it and he won't be able to help stopping to help others if there's any chance he sees it as his responsibility to help them. I'm torn with the Morrows and Ashleigh. They've very insular in keeping to themselves when they can. But, they're also very practical about their own survival and as long as they plan to stay with us, I think they'll look after her to stay on our good side. Are we taking all the new dogs with us?"

Taking Harley and Nova wasn't even a question. If they could, the dogs were going with them. They were as much family as the people.

"As for the nurseries, shouldn't be a problem. We painted them up as they are; we can paint over them. Morgan, you and Prentiss have gone with Savannah and Marty to church more than I have. Any problems there as far as if she's mentioned the twins to other parishioners? That would be the only flaw I could see in pretending there's only one child. If she's talked to the other churchgoers or the priest about having twins."

"I expected complaints about that, but as I said, they can all come and tell me exactly why they deserve the space," he said, knowing that he wouldn't get quite as many complaints as these two would. "I will impress upon the Morrows the importance of protecting each other. I will change her place if they decide to leave, which I will bring up at the meeting, too. We'll also take all the dogs. They seem to be very useful. I'll have to see what arrangements we can make so people around John's house can take his. An open window and those dogs can truly run." He turned to Morgan "What is the situation there?"

"She's been talking in terms of children," Derek started, "but she always talking about having lots of children, all our children, our family. The implication is that she's talking about future children and not twins. She hasn't even mentioned the gender when I was there. She's very friendly, but if you pay attention, she doesn't share as much information as people think. She's also talked to the priest about wanting to convert because she wants to help her children, but again, the feeling is that she's talking about future children. I don't think we'll have a problem there unless they found double strollers and such."

Leon nodded. "Very well. I'll see you both at 1730, then."

Meeting

The living room was full with people sitting on chairs and desks, some standing. It had never been so full in this room and hopefully it never would be again. Leon couldn't wait to find the right place where he could have his privacy and still be close to everyone.

"Ladies and gentlemen, let's start. First, tonight, there won't be any drills, so you get even more free time. That's just about the only good news you will hear from me, and I'm not about to sugarcoat what's to come," he said.

"There have been many complaints during the past seventeen months. Until now, no one had much of a choice about what they'd be doing, but now you will. When we move again, you will have a choice: come with us and follow the rules we have or go your own way. We will give you IDs, birth certificates, even money to start, but that will be the last contact you will have with us. You will not be told where the safe houses are, you will not have any phone numbers, you will never see us again. This is a choice that we need by the end of this weekend. I expect each and everyone of you to speak with me and let me know. Please do not bother Mr. Morgan or Mr. Callen; you come to me,” he said.

“People who will come with us will follow all the rules that we create, while we try to make those rules as fair as possible. People who will not come with us won't be allowed on any missions that could show where the safe houses are or what steps we have taken to move. They will also not be privy to the other covers created." He looked over the crowd. "You have a few days to make your decision and then there is no going back. You will come with us if that's what you tell us. Let me make something very clear. You all have jobs and responsibilities and so do I. My job is to protect this group. Anyone who tries to double cross will not be a very happy person," he said coldly.

"Now, onto more unhappy news. Mr. and Mrs. Vail, Mr. Callen, I will ask you to paint over your nurseries and go back to white. Mr and Mrs Deeks, you will not be required to do so, however, at this point, most people know about Savannah's pregnancy in Prescott, therefore we will do our best to make sure that the government thinks that there is only one child. The covers for Liam and Blaze will disappear. Anything you don't need short term like high chairs, toys and clothes for older children, all of that should be packed and we will move it out of the base. We will try and blow everything up like we did at the base, but it might not work a second time. We'll have to leave very little trace that there are four children instead of one,. Mr. and Mrs. Deeks, please do not mention that they are twins to anyone outside and keep little that would point in that direction,” he said.

Meeting

“We will coordinate the painting with the new housing. To allow this to happen, we will make a run into Phoenix tomorrow evening for supplies and groceries on Saturday, there will be the first move. Here's what's going to happen. Mr. Morgan, Ms. Prentiss and Doctor Cooper will move to 9. Mr. and Mrs. Morrow and Ms. Howard will move to 10. Mr. Baum and Mr. Kinney, you will be in 8 and Mr. and Mrs. Vail with Eric will be in 7. 3 and 4 will remain unchained. However, Mr. Callen, I would ask that you move in with your brother for the day so that your nursery can be painted over. On Sunday, which I know will be inconvenient since it's Easter, but I want everyone moving at the same time, Mr. Hanna, Mr. Bolton, Ms. Castle, Mr. Riggins and Ms. Jones will move to 5 and Mr. Callen and Mr. Hanna will move to 2. If anyone has problems with these assignments, please come and see me. In addition, Mr. Baum and Mr. Kinney, I'd like to speak with you as soon as we're done. Mr. and Mrs. Morrow, the same applies to you.” Then the real politics started.

“Next week we'll work to sanitize all of the two bedrooms and we'll be selling off almost all of them. Furniture that was previously used will be disassembled for easy transport and it plus the one still in boxes will be taken away from here,” he continued. “You might be asking yourself why the rush. I can tell you that we are not under any immediate danger. However, settling in any place for too long leads to exposure. We don't know when we will leave and hopefully we'll do it on our terms, but one thing I can tell you, we will continue moving periodically. This is the life you will choose if you come with us and it will not stop until we find a way home. I wish I could tell you that things will settled down, but they won't. They will however get better as we work together and find the right balance not just of skills and powers, but also personalities and understandings. One thing that this group will never be is a democracy, and not because I had inspirations of becoming the next emperor, but because you can't fight a government and its military forces with a democracy and surviving is our job, ladies and gentlemen. That is your number one priority, because nothing else matters more than staying alive. Now, you're free to go. However, I will speak to some people and if anyone needs to speak to me, I will be around for all of your questions or decisions if you have them. Enjoy the rest of the evening.”

Meeting with John and Brian
[info]leon_vance
2012-04-06 12:50 am UTC (link)
Leon made sure to find John and Brian first. He knew that as much as people would complain about their assignment, John would complain more. Then again, the only people pressed for space were those five twenty something and he doubted they'd be complaining. A celebration was more likely.

"A word in my office." He went inside, letting people talk or complain in the main office space. "All right, do I even need to ask if you'll be joining us?"

Brian snorted. "I was trying to get a new house in the Bahamas, but it's proving to be hard, so I guess we shall be coming with you." Even if he'd be happy to find a place to stay and enjoy life, however short, he wasn't going to leave John.

"Good, then now that we have that settled. There is a reason why you have the house all for yourselves. We will be moving things that we don't need, but that shouldn't get into government's hands to the truck. In case of an attack, I want both of you to fly to the truck and drive out. If you can't drive out, blow it up and fly to our rendezvous point. Do not look back, do not stop to help anyone, do not worry about anyone but you and your mission. We will make arrangements with someone who lives close by and you trust so that you can open a window and let your dog find them. Dom would be my choice, but I'll leave that up to you," he said, keeping his eyes on John. "This is an order, John. I need you protected and as strangely as it sounds, I need Mr. Kinney protected since he knows quite a few secrets about our operations. Are we clear about your directives?"

There wasn't really any question of going with them and John didn't bother to add his agreement in anything more than a nod when Brian spoke for both of them. He was more interested in why he and Brian were getting an entire three bedroom house to themselves when Alexis and Tim or Nell or Troy and Sean could have easily been assigned to live with them, even if they'd probably still never leave the other house.

He was following along quite happily with the directive to get out and get the truck. Perfectly okay with that part.

It was when Vance started in on not stopping to help anyone, leaving Snazz to fend for himself, that John's jaw started to clench. "Sir-" He started to speak, but Vance was going on about orders and needing John protected and John was fifteen again, arguing with his mother about not being able to save a girl jumping off the roof of the gym. "Crystal," he replied darkly. "My orders are to turn my back on everyone else here and go against every piece of training we've been given by doing so."

Vance had him over a barrel, though, with the bit about Brian and the man probably knew it. John couldn't say no if asked to protect Brian. "Anything else?"

"No, your training is to make sure that two valuable members of my team get out alive and can make sure that nothing we want protected gets in their hands," Leon said, calmly.

"Look at the houses, look at how easily we could be surrounded. Someone needs to get out alive, and we need someone's in each field. You and Brian already cover tech, research and administration. I'm sorry, John. I know you'd be an asset on the field, but that's not where I need you this time. Unfortunately, there will be other times." He shook his head. "No, nothing else."

Meeting with the Morrows
[info]leon_vance
2012-04-06 12:57 am UTC (link)
Leon waited for his next appointment. "Mr. and Mrs. Morrow, I will keep this very simple. I have assigned you to live with a girl who has shown an ineptitude toward firing a gun, something that she does not share with you. You are both very good with guns and rifles. You have remarkable powers as well and I am counting on you to get that girl out. This is contingent on the fact that you will be coming with us. If that's not correct or if you don't feel up to helping her, I need to know now."

Gemma didn't even have to think about it. They hadn't discussed it and she knew how much Clay hated this, but with no club and a supposedly clean rep, they couldn't survive here, and besides, they wanted to go home and these people were the only option. "We're coming and we'll take care of the girl. Not the first time we need to take care to someone who isn't our kid." Of course they were people connected to the club so they were like family, but she didn't share that.

"Mr. Morrow, do you agree with your wife?" he asked the man.

Clay had listened to all of this. He nearly snorted when Leon described it as a choice: leave or stay and follow their rules. It was also funny because those kinds of choices, where there really wasn't a choice at all, were the kind that he had doled out plenty of times in the past. Of course, it was different when you were faced with the "choice" than when you were the one making the offer.

As much as he wanted to say fuck off and never see these dicks again, one look at Gemma told him she would never go for it and he did want to get home. So he turned up his hands and with a slight smile replied, "My Queen's spoken. We're staying. And we'll keep the girl alive."

He really wanted to light up a cigar. Big decisions deserved cigars. So did small decisions.

Leon nodded. "Very good. I know Mr. Callen and Mr. Morgan consider you an asset and soon you will be given a chance to do some real work, something you are probably used to, and might relieve some of the boredom."

He stood up. "Thank you again, and if you can come up with any ideas on how to teach her to shoot. I'm sure you've had plenty of experience in the past."

Gemma snorted. "I might have taught a woman or two. I'll see what I can do."

"Thanks," Leon answered. "Have a good night."
