Troy and Tim

It was Blues night, and he could tell that Sean was enjoying it a lot more than most people. Blues was one of those genres that required an acquired taste and most people never did, but Sean deserved a night where he could play for himself, to enjoy the sounds that came out of his sax, to get lost in a music that most people didn't understand.

Of course, Troy could always make fun of him later, but for now, he played and when he wasn't playing, he walked around and joked with people, making sure that they found a different type of entertainment.

Beer in hand, he found Tim. They'd been seeing a lot of Riggins now that he and Alexis were an item, and Troy didn't mind. "Hey. Your girlfriend has abandoned you for more conversation with Sean," he teased, knowing that they were going through the next set. Sean could improvise, but with Alexis' classical training, she needed more reassurances and written notes. "Are you having fun?"

Tim was leaning up against a wall watching Alexis while drinking a beer. He wasn't watching her in the "I don't trust you" sense, but in the "You're so beautiful I can't take my eyes off you" sense.

He smirked a little when Troy approached him. He had kept his word and had not instigated trouble with Troy. And actually the more he was around him, the more he could tolerate the boy. He could actually be really funny at times.

"We'll see who she goes home with at the end of the night," Tim laughed and took a swig from the bottle. Then he nodded. "Perhaps surprisingly, but yes. How about you? How's your weekend been?

Troy started to laugh. "Sorry to disappoint you, man, but I'm pretty sure that she's been going home with Sean since we got here and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Something about living together. You're just crashing at their place, and by the way, if Sam finds out that you're leaving Tyra alone, he's going to have your ass."

He shrugged. "We're not learning how to kill people, I get to play, we have the games tomorrow. The weekend is pretty good." Troy took a swig from his bottle, before looking at the stage again. "It's rather sad that this has become the highlight of our week, but I guess it could be worse. Of course it could be better, but getting laid isn't in the cards at the moment." He'd have to content himself with annoying and daring Sean.

"HA!" Tim shrugged. Troy was technically correct, even if it wasn't the sense of going home with that Tim meant. It was still funny. Just before taking another sip, he said just over the lip of the beer bottle, "Sam can kiss my white ass." He just hoped Troy didn't tell Sam that. Or tell someone and have it got back to Sam. Seriously, it's not like Tim being away significantly decreased Tyra's safety. Tim knew full well she could take care of her own.

"Those are all good points. Who's playing tomorrow?" He figured he could show some interest in the activities Troy liked. If nothing else, it would make for a better conversation, and he was pretty sure Troy wasn't going to leave him be until they had fully conversed. "It could be worse that's true." He would've agreed about getting laid would make things better, but Troy didn't need to know that.

Troy laughed. "Yeah, I'm sure. I dare you to say that to his face." Anyone that would then had to be even crazier than he was, because there was insanity and suicidal, and Tim was crossing the line. "Still, you might want to find a solution, because you are sleeping in Sean's house and you'll end up putting him in the middle, and that's just a sucky thing to do to a friend."

He loved sports and couldn't understand how these people didn't even care. "Who isn't playing. We have Vanderbilt vs Kentucky; Florida State vs North Carolina; St. Bonaventure vs Xavier; Ohio State vs Michigan State. That's just college football. Then there's the NBA, the Marlins v. Mets exhibition game, and eight hockey games. If anyone wants real food, they are cooking, because if it's my turn, it's hot dogs and frozen pizza, with chips and lots of beer. I don't plan to move from the TV all day."

Tim joined in the laughter. "Yeah, no thanks, I don't have a death wish!" He thought about what Troy said. "That's a good point. I'm sure Alexis doesn't want to put Sean in that kind of situation, too. We'll figure something out. Thanks, Troy." It was weird to say we instead of I, but Tim liked it.

"Pizza and beer, doesn't get better than that," Tim tipped his beer in Troy's direction as a kind of a toast and then finished the drink. He then smiled. "College football is the best. I do wish it was the real schools that were playing," and by real Tim meant the schools from his reality. "I'm as much of a sports fanatic as anyone, but even I can't get behind exhibition baseball. The games don't even count! I don't know how you do it, man." Tim snickered.

That was more like it, because anything else seemed like a death wish. "Hey, I make a lot of good point. I'm not just another pretty face," he said, winking at Tim. "We?" he asked after a heart beat. "Man, you are whipped. Enjoy it, because it's nice while it lasts." He wasn't sure about eternal love, but he believed that love should be enjoyed while it was there. It made no sense to hold back.

"I agree, but some of these people think that it's not healthy. I say with all the training who care about healthy." He looked at Tim with a frown. Football? "Did I say football? Fuck, I must be drunker than I thought. I meant basketball, and I know it's not your sport, but it is mine. Did you know that Alexis played for her school? If you didn't, tomorrow is not the time to mention that football is better than basketball." Troy snorted. "You watch the game during the commercials and then you make your own comments. That's what I was going to do for ESPN, game commentary, mostly basketball, but anything really. I love sports, I love being on the air, knowing that you can't fuck up because people are watching. It's great."

"Well, that makes one of us," Tim said with a nod. He knew he was a pretty face and didn't have a whole lot in the intellect department. Although he had always thought he had a good bit of common sense, even when he willfully decided not to follow it. Tim cackled at Troy's reaction. "Yeah, you're right again. It is nice while it lasts." His eyes found Alexis and he beamed. He really was smitten. He didn't get this way with most women. But Alexis was rare.

"Who cares about healthy even if there was no training?" Tim shook his head, he knew there were lots of people who thought really awesome body = health nut. He certainly wasn't a health nut. "Indeed, it is basketball season. I was just playing along." He shrugged. "I do prefer football, but I can get behind basketball, college that is. The NBA is just ridiculous." Tim glared and then snorted. "Yes I did know that my girlfriend played some ball in her day."

Tim laughed. "I have no doubt that you would love being on the air." The man loved the sound of his voice way too much.

Troy looked at Tim for a moment, unsure if he should argue, or if Tim was looking for a compliment, but he doubted it, and decided it to let it go. Instead, he grinned when he saw the way Tim looked at Alexis. "You've got it bad, my man. I hope it lasts for a long time, and possibly without all those pesky kids that seem to pop up around here. Did you hear that Jenna gave birth last night? Alexander Blaze, talk about very different names, but whatever, right? Their kid."

He shrugged. "I would when I start to gain weight and look like some a middle aged man that has never left a desk. Beer does that to you after a while, but we're still young and we're training." He rolled his eyes. "You could have corrected me. I'm not one of those anal retentive nutjobs around here." Troy chuckled at the answer about Alexis. "In her day, because she's so hold."

Troy nudged Tim's shoulder with him. "Hey, it's great. You can't tell me that you don't know what it feels like. When you're doing that interview and you know people are watching and you can't mess up. It's like when you're playing, you can't get it wrong, every moment is just as important as the one before, the adrenaline is pumping and you need to be at your best."

Tim nodded as he tried to turn his smile into a grimace and just ended up chuckling. "I do have it bad. I hope so too. I definitely do not want any pesky kids, at least not any time soon." He hmmmed. "Alexander Blaze? As you say, they're kid. Did everything go okay? Mom and baby doing fine?"

"But it was more fun not to correct you," Tim said in a mockingly condescending tone. He then looked outraged. "Don't call my girlfriend old!"

He nodded, sighed, and then closed his eyes, remembering what it was like on the field, the pressure of the game, especially in their two championship games. He still can't believe they lost that last one. "Being in that moment. I miss it, man. Miss it a lot."

"Yes, kids are not in the plans. Well, they would require sex, and that's not happening. Man, I need to get laid." He couldn't imagine naming a kid Blaze, but then he couldn't imagine having a kid, so maybe that was his problem. Troy nodded. "Yes, they are good. I doubt Sean would be here if they weren't, music or no music."

Troy snorted. "Sure, make fun of the drunk man. I hope you're enjoying yourself." He rolled his eyes again. "Ancient, I tell you."

The smile became real when Tim closed his eyes and talked about that moment. "Yeah, I miss it, too. There's nothing like it, especially that last one, the time running down, the ball leaves your hand and the buzzer goes off and then you're holding your breath, waiting to see if it's in or out. Broadcasting is like that, except every moment feels like that, at least when you're live."

Tim chuckled. He would normally tease the man about not getitng any action but was worried he may inadvertantly say too much about his and Alexis' sexual status. Or was not saying anything saying too much? This is why Tim preferred getting drunk to conversing with people. "Glad to hear everyone's alright."

"Don't worry, I am enjoying myself," Tim said reassuringly.

"Well, here's hoping we get to get back in that moment," Tim sighed looking around.

"Yes, after what happened with Kensi, I'd imagine that they were all a little apprehensive." He couldn't imagine not worrying a little.

Troy chuckled. "Yes, you are, and I don't know about you, but that moment arrived for me." It was never going to be the same, but he would try to make the best of it, just like he always did. "Back to playing for me. I'll talk to you later."
