"Where's the fun in that?" Sam said with a smirk. "You have to have some excitement in life, and it's better that I provide it and not that he finds him for himself. It's less dangerous and more entertaining," he said, chuckling. "That's pretty much the argument I made with G, expecting him to argue the opposite, and now I'm arguing his point of view. We do like to see things from all angles. However, the conclusion is still that people are blind and selfish."
Sam snorted. "He's a criminal, Sean. This has nothing to do with knowing me or having bad experiences. And all SEALs are as good as me. We work as a team. We are a team. I might not know all of them personally, but we are on body and we are all damn good or we wouldn't be where we are. Spencer is a criminal and a murderer, and someone like him can have no honor, which is why he doesn't understand how someone else has it. Thugs like that are a disgrace to the Army."
He looked at his son and raised an eyebrow. "Are you really giving me relationship advice now? Or is this where you tell me to wing it? Because G and I know nothing about that. Sean, don't worry. G and I will figure it out." The part about Troy had him snorting again. "So he was impressed by you, but not us. I guess we need to step up his training."
Sam chuckled. "No, I'm telling you how things aren't always what they seem, and that's especially true in our line of work, which is pretty much your line of work now." He shook his head. "This is scary. G might be crazy, but he's got the experience, training and instinct not to get himself and others killed. Bolton has no sense of self-preservation. We'll have to work on that regardless. I like for people to stay alive."
He grinned. "I still think that G is certifiable. That's not a bad thing. It's whether it's a good thing for you." He shook his head. "No, I'm saying that the facts could be read to mean tat you have feeling or that you're just friends. I can make that argument either way, because I don't know what's in your head. Only you know that part. And, it's not about happiness. It's about having someone there. You might not fall apart, but even the strongest person needs someone on occasion. We all get those nights when that person right there makes everything a little better."
