"It's more than that. It's a team leader and his second in command, who also happens to be the security leader. It's a lot of roles that conflicts. Also doing something normal suggests that we're doing something wrong, because normal is crazy, or stupid. Take your pick," he said, with a grin. "It's more accepting that this might go a lot longer than we had imagined, and even home, we might have a different set of problem. Maybe it's just accepting that we'll spend most of our lives with these people and when G accepts it, which won't be for a while, then it'll be easier to be there if we're aren't hiding." He ran a hand over his scalp. "I don't know, Sean. We made tactical choices based on what we thought would happen. I didn't think we'd be this long here, not enough for Dom and Jenna to be an issue. I guess I was wrong."
Sam smiled. "I think it's what we need to do. Stop living like this is temporary. We have a family here and I've shortchanged you guys enough. I'm not going to do it again in the hope that we'll go home. Instead we'll train to survive and we'll live our lives together."
He chuckled. "Yes, but I doubt he knows or cares about that familiar glint. He really seemed more interested on the wine."
Sam looked at Sean. "So what reaction did you have with Jenna?" And he might have been away for much of Sean's people, but Sam understood people, even when he thought they were crazy. He had skipped many important moments, but maybe he could help now. "I'm not telling you that there is something or that there should be something. I'll let Savannah plan the romances. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on based on your action, Sean, because what we do usually is a pretty good indication of what we really want. I also don't care if this is a relationship or not. I've told you already, I just want you to have someone, and a good friend is someone. It doesn't have to be romantic."
