"So, a lifetime of secrecy is battling with something actually normal? You love each other, though, and you're in it together, right? And you've got all the rest of us to watch your backs, too. So, you're not really as vulnerable as it might seem and if it was really too much information both of you would have told Jen and Dom or Savannah and Marty not to be open about their relationships, either. It's not like either of you have ever opted for not sounding insane if you really believed something was what was necessary to protect us." Sean shrugged. "If that's what you want, I'll do it. I think once you both get used to it, it won't seem any more freaky than having kids and dogs and spending all day training cheerleaders, musicians, and basketball players to fight and shoot."
Sean smirked. "You had a gun and there was no familiar glint on your finger. You can see what the more important issue for all of us was." But, he should have known his dad wouldn't leave it there. He'd had as many discussions on finding someone with Dad as he had Savannah.
Okay, no, he hadn't. But, when you considered how many times they'd discussed it and understood how infrequent such conversation were with his dad, it seemed like it.
"I don't know," he said at last. "I never even thought of it as a possibility until this whole thing came up with the club and the jokes yesterday. I argued with Jen over the dinner invitation and even though I knew it was fake, my reactions to her were stronger than I expected. But, it's all jokes and dares between us and I don't know if there's really something more, or I'm letting myself be influenced by everyone else who seems to think there is or should be. But, he is a friend. It's easy to talk to him when he can manage to be serious for two seconds."
