G was starting to get annoyed, though he continued to keep his voice low. He really had expected better of Abby than this. "Tell me this, then. Do you think you're better than Dr. Kepner? More deserving of special treatment? Because, she has a serious phobia of guns, can barely keep from shaking just knowing I'm carrying one, not even seeing it. And, yet, she's in class with the others, learning how to use what she fears and hates, because it's expected of everyone. It's slow progress and requires patience on both our parts. But, she's trying. And you won't even give us that much? A try?"
There was more he could say about training 'like an agent', about the political issues, that the training they were asking of her was nothing what he and Sam had gone through over the years. But, all of that became secondary to his reaction with her last words. Those words caused him to swear sharply in Russian. "I never pegged you as being this dense, Abby." Kneeling down beside her, stilling keeping their words as shielded as possible, his voice was still low but now carried a sharp hiss. "You are our best chance of getting out of here. If you don't play along with the games we all have to in order to keep our heads down, we will fail. You have no way of looking into the rift that brought us here and how to get home if you're sitting in a cell. And I can't let you out of this cell unless you play your part.
"This is bigger than you and what you want. Bigger than me and what I want. Bigger than what any individual one of us wants. I'm not sending you as an agent into the field. But, you have to start thinking like what you are -- personnel behind enemy lines trying to escape. Because if you don't, you are condemning every single one of us to this dimension."
