RP: The Fab Four
Who: Savannah, Marty, Sam, G
Where: Sam and G
When: January 1, 2012
Summary: Savannah and Marty give the parents the news

Savannah had told Marty about April and how she planned to talk to Vance and Derek and how Derek was going to talk to G and she certainly didn't want any of those people to find out before G did, so telling him was the first thing they would do today.

First thing was a relative term, because she slept more than she had in weeks. She couldn't believe that she was up that it was close to noon. Then there was breakfast, and then she was still not quite awake. They didn't make it out of the house until after three.

She smiled when Sam opened the door for them. "Happy new year," she said, kissing Sam's cheek, before moving to the side to let both Marty and Nova in. "Hey, G, and oh goodness gracious, is that baking I smell? Did you make cake? Oh please, please, please, give me some. I can never eat them when I make them. The smell is too much and it's disgusting. Marty needs to start cooking or I'll never eat again." That was a big no-no. She was supposed to eat for three now. "I can smell everything; it's crazy," she said as she sat on the couch and leaned against G. "I'm better than the dogs. I can actually tell you what I smell." She stopped and took a deep breath before smiling at G. "You're going to be a good daddy and help Marty cook for me? You totally should, because I have the best husband around. I kind of have the best dad and step-dad, too. Love you," she said with a softer tone before kissing G's cheek.

G had no plans to go anywhere or see anyone all day. Sam might have found a way to make his birthday tolerable, but G still wasn't in the best of moods and had no desire to explain why. So, he went on alert when the knock came at the door, but let Sam get it. Hearing Savannah, he pushed that bad mood aside so that he could smile at her as she joined him on the couch.

"Savannah," he greeted her, while returning the quiet nod Deeks gave him. The man didn't seem as strained, the tightness around the eyes he'd worn since they got to Arizona was gone, and G made note of it with suspicious approval. Something had changed.

While Savannah rambled on, G groaned inwardly as she mentioned baking. He just had not been able to eat that many cupcakes...partly because by the time he and Sam finished talking he'd been more interested in getting his mouth on his partner instead of the cupcakes. But, even that didn't matter when she kissed his cheek. Something had definitely changed. He could hear it in her tone and he let himself smile a little for real as he put an arm around her for a brief one-armed hug. "You do know that if you weren't pregnant and I didn't know better I'd ask if you had been dipping into whatever stash Kinney managed to save for himself, right?" he teased, winking at Deeks over her head. "Now why isn't Deeks cooking for you?"

"Hey, don't look at me, man. Have you ever tried to tell her to get out of the kitchen? I gave up a long time ago."

G snorted. "She didn't cook during the week when she lived with us," he pointed out to a grumbling Deeks.

"Yes, but I was training. I'm not doing anything right now," she pointed out. "So I'm cooking, and he can't cook as well as me, and where are my cupcakes?"

"Right here," Sam said, bringing them out in the foil tray, "and I'll make you a deal. You bake and bring them over for G so he can gt his calorie intake, and I'll make them for you." Not that he had made them for G's diet, but that would stop any questions about the cupcakes before they even started.

"I can do that," Savannah said, nodding. "Eliot likes to bake too. We've done that back in New York. I'll send along what we have." She grinned at Marty. "I'm doing it so you don't have old and fat. I' sure you know that."

Savannah turned to G. "Why am I crazy? It's real, books say so. For some reason, pregnant women have a more acute sense of smell. Oh did you mean because I' asking you to cook? No, I'm pretty sure that you'll help, especially when you hear the news." She smiled at Marty again. "I spoke with Eliot and April yesterday. The babies are moving just fine, so there is nothing to worry about, and when I say the babies I don't mean Jenna's and Kensi's, I mean-" She touched her stomach. "I'm having twins... well Eliot says we're having twins. April told me after thanksgiving. They were too little to see before then, and we were supposed to do a sonogram, but then the attack, and blood, and I didn't know-" She shook her head. "The point is that Eliot is seeing both of them moving, which makes April think that everything is fine, but she can't confirm it without a sonogram."

G watched with amusement as Savannah got her cupcakes. He wasn't sure what had changed but this wasn't the same girl he'd been mourning the night before. "So, you want us to cook for you even though you need something to do and cook better?" he teased. Not that he really thought she cooked better, but she had more patience for cooking more involved dishes.

Both Deeks and G stared at her and Sam though as they so casually made deals over their diets. Although, at least G understood Sam's point in diverting attention from the real reason for the cupcakes. "Of course I do. Lucky for me, Sam's replenishing the supply." Deeks reached over and swiped one of the cupcakes. "Don't want the kids to get too addicted to sugar so young, you know."

G laughed.

"I didn't say you were crazy. Intoxicated. But, not crazy." The difference and word play lost it's importance, however, in the face of her news. Looking between the two of them, he caught Deeks' nod and goofy grin, the smile Savannah shot Deeks. Something had indeed changed. And it was... "Twins? Wait, what do you mean blood?" That was one of those words guaranteed to grab G's attention when it was uttered in conjunction with his family. The sonogram was clearly important, but it took a backseat to blood. "Has she talked to the Director yet about what she needs?"

"Yes, I want you to cook for me. Isn't it better than having strange urges that make you go all over the places in the middle of the night?" she asked. "It sounds reasonable to me."

"I'm not baking for you, Deeks," Sam said, glaring at Deeks, but it didn't last long with Savannah laughing. It was nice to hear her laughing again and Sam knew that G would appreciate it even more.

"They aren't for the babies, but me. You touch another one and I'm going on fire," she said, as she reached for a cupcake as well.

The teasing and playing ended when G started to ask questions. "She has. She said that he doesn't seem favorable toward an ultrasound machine, although she hasn't gotten an answer from him yet. These machines are like, a million dollar each, so yeah, she's trying to convince him. We agreed not to push until she talks to him again, and I told her that she could tell him about the twins if she thinks it helps, so someone might tell you, since she's got Derek to help her with this as well."

With the practical part out of the way, there was the last question. "I... after the attack, I was spotting, and there's really no way to know if the children are okay, or if there is something wrong, then there's little that any doctor can do. They are too little to survive and they are literally in God's hands, and yes, I know you don't believe it, but this is one time when no one can do anything, not even the best OBGYN. I thought maybe this was because of what we did, that God was punishing us-"

"That's not how Allah works, Savannah," Sam said, cutting her off.

"I know, but I hadn't even had a chance to see them, and then the blood, and I didn't want to think of what might have happened." She looked at Marty and smiled a little. "Someone convinced me that we should know even if there's nothing we can do, and then I spoke with April and she told me about what Eliot said, and there might still be tons of things that go wrong, and none of the genetic tests can be done, but they are alive, so now we're dealing with the problems that any pregnant woman has." She looked at G and grinned. "And yes, twins as in two of them. We're going to need another crib."

"Well, I suppose, since it would be difficult to explain to the Director why I shot Deeks after mistaking him for an enemy prowling around the ranch at night, that it is better at that," G drawled.

"Wait, why am I getting deprived?" Deeks interrupted, sulking playfully. "Savannah bakes and gives it away. Sam bakes and I get threats. How is this fair?"

"It's not," G returned. "You'll just have to be better with those powers of persuasion you keep telling us you have."

G listened in silence while Savannah explained about April's attempts to get the sonogram and the pushback she'd gotten from Vance. He made a mental note to talk to April and Morgan within the next couple days. April knew medicine, Morgan knew people, and G knew Vance. Between the three of them, they should be able to get this done. And G wasn't going to wait for one of them to talk to him when it was Savannah's health and the health of her children on the line. "I'll talk to them. If Vance remains unconvinced, we'll see about putting it in a light he can't dispute. But, we can leave if for a couple days. Give him time to think about it and to get April the leverage she needs."

The rest of the conversation worried him. But, he reminded himself that she seemed happier than she had a week before and that had to mean something. She was right, he didn't believe it. But, he wasn't going to risk another discussion of her beliefs that led nowhere because he couldn't believe and she believed too much. G was just glad Sam could step in with his own commentary. Although, the look she shot her husband was more telling. "A second crib will be an excellent way of opening a conversation with the Director on getting more equipment," he said with a chuckle. Leaning over he kissed her temple, something he never would have done if there was anyone there but the four of them. "I'm happy for you, my girl," he whispered into her hair before sitting a back again.

"Now someone pass one of those cupcakes over this way. I still get one until they're replaced." They were still his birthday cake, after all, even if he hated the day.
