"It's okay. We'll figure it out together, baby." He pressed his lips against G's temple in a soft kiss. "I know it hurts and I know this must scare you. You don't settle, you don't get close, and you've broken everyone of your rules here, but you're not doing this alone. I'm not going to let you push me away. You can yell, rant and be bitchy, but I'm not going away. I told you, you and me, until we're old and wrinkly."
He rubbed G's back as he talked, keeping him close. "As much as I know how hard this is, I also know how you react. I can tell what it is and what it means, but others don't, and if you need me to filter things through we can do that too, at least you do feel better, because you will. I know you were close to her, but she made a choice, a sad and shrewd choice. She knew they were trying to capture us and she sacrificed herself and those near instead of having them spend their lives as guinea pigs. You can mourn her loss, you should, but she gave her life so we could keep going, and not just surviving, but living. If you close yourself off now, because you're scared of being hurt in the future, you're not living. She's always wanted that for you, to enjoy life, to know more than the job, not to become what she was." He smiled. "I really hope she knew about us, because that would have made her happy, even if it would have been very weird."
