His focus should be in the field, now, G wondered irritably. Now his focus was supposed to be in the field? This entire endeavor was the field. Vance had clearly gotten too used to running an agency. They weren't going to be hunting criminals anymore. Their only goal was survival and it wasn't going to work if Vance insisted on running this endeavor like and agency. He didn't know this team.
And that was the real problem. Vance didn't know his team. G did. Morgan did. Sam and Prentiss did. The four of them were going to have to be the ones holding them together as a team with Vance splitting them up like this. Maybe get Savannah to help him. G wouldn't ask her to run something like the weekly barbeques again. But, they needed something to hold them together.
G was so caught up in planning how to run things around Vance's orders, it took him a minute to realize what Morgan had said and when he did, his laugh was, perhaps, harsher than he intended. But, the man was wrong. G had never been anything more than a weapon to anyone he'd ever worked for. Why expect Vance to be any different than any other director of any other agency? "You going to defend my honor? Unless you can stay six moves ahead of him, better idea is to keep your head down and focus on our team."
