Re: Nell and April
Already on the bus, April started to work. She'd pulled the glass out of her leg and patched it up as soon as she got on so that it wouldn't be a distraction or but after that, her focus was on the injured, and especially on Nell.
The most immediate threat was the threat of her bleeding out. As much as they kept pressure on the wound, that needed to be stitched up properly as soon as they had stopped or she wouldn't make it. There were also broken ribs and the risk of a punctured lung if the ribs moved
The moment they stopped and Nell was on stable ground, April had her kit out and was fixing the gash in Nell's side. She knew she had to work quickly, because here there were no transfusions. Even if one of them had a matching blood type, the situation wouldn't allow a transfusion.
April had just finished the stitches and was cleaning the wound when Nell opened her eyes. Inwardly April drew a breath of relief, because the fact that she woke up was a good indication that the blood loss wasn't as severe as she'd at first feared.
"I'll keep that in mind," she said with a smile. "Don't worry, the worst is taken care of, you'll have a scar, but you're no longer bleeding." She would have liked to take the time to do a better job, but time was the one thing she didn't have here. The most important part was getting the bleeding to stop.
"You have two broken ribs that I need to take care of, but I want you to help me out and tell me if you're in pain anywhere else."
