Re: Troy/Nell/Hetty
They planned and they trained and the young men in charge fretted over being ready and Hetty knew they were never going to be ready. Not with new people coming in haphazardly, so many youngsters who'd never seen anything to remotely compare it too. But, they would do what they could and when the text came, the time for fretting was over.
Preparations were in place and it should have been an easy matter of gathering their things and leaving. Still, nothing was ever easy. Almost as soon as she was ready to go, she picked up the sleep-addled thoughts of her youngest charge as he wandered further into the house instead of away from it. Nell was just about ready to go. Hetty would just take Mr. Bolton through with her and fast.
It was as she stepped into the hall to grab the young man by the arm and pull him through her room to escape that she heard them, them, their muffled thoughts as they approached, saw the first of them rise up outside the window behind Mr. Bolton.
"Bolton! Move!" She had no shot with the young man in the way, though her pistol was out instantly. "Miss Jones!" Nell's room was on the same side as their attacker was approaching. They'd all have to go out the other side.
