RP: Woodstock Night
Who: Open (Add your tags if your characters are there even if you aren't RPing. I will not be guessing. No tags = not there)
Where: the club
When: November 26, 2011
Summary: Another Saturday, another party

Savannah didn't get Woodstock. It seemed like a bunch of drug addict and sexual perverts needing an excuse to do what they wanted, but the music was nice, so she really didn't have to get the entire movement to sing.

Sean had worked off from the list she had made to makes the different sets and they had plenty of songs to spend the night.

Tyra was enjoying herself. It wasn't like the Austin bars she'd frequented at UT but whoever had set the place up had really thought about it and it seemed to work for their group. She had sang like she'd promised Savannah she would and she'd had fun, more than she'd expected.

She was taking a break and had just gone to get herself a drink and relax. Tyra thought she had met just about everybody now - to varying degrees - but she still didn't know everyone properly or even passably. It wasn't too strange a sensation, she had never known everybody at Austin, even in her class, but having such a small group made her want to know everybody.

Sighing, Tyra sipped at her beer and listened to whoever was singing. It wasn't home but it was nice enough.

Nick/Tyra

Nick approached, walked away, approached, walked away again, and finally fully approached Tyra. He knew who she was, of course, since he'd seen her daily, but he hadn't actually said hi yet outside of the routine. Mainly because she also came from the Planet of the Babes this group plucked girls from. But it was club night, and clubs were made for talking to people (and for adults to act goofy), and so he was going to talk to her. Once he stopped staring at her drinking from her beer bottle.

"Um, hi, Tyra," he eventually managed before his staring became creepy. "I liked your singing. Even though I didn't know the songs."

Tyra lowered the beer when she heard somebody talking to her and smiled. It was the younger boy, Nick, the one who had replaced Alexis as the youngest member of the group.

On any ordinary night if a guy this young had tried to speak to her, she would have sent him on his way with a 'leave' and a stare. However, she knew they had to all rub along somehow and she thought he was pretty harmless. And not trying to hit on her which helped her mood a lot.

"Hey there," She chuckled when he said she had a good voice and shook her head. "I'm not the next big thing but it's sweet of you to say that. How are you? I hear you didn't get here much before me."

"I'm good. Callen beat me around today, showed me some stuff. It was fun." Nick left out the part about being sore. He was a man, after all. He perched on the arm of a fat chair near her. "I got here two weeks before you, I think." He thought, and confirmed. "Yeah. I can't believe it's coming up on a month already since I came through the rift in the multiverse. It's gone by kind of fast."

Nick took a drink from his can of coke. He dribbled a little. He tried to hide it with a quick swipe from his sleeve. He was so uncool. "So. How are you liking it here?"

"Beat you around?" Tyra raised an eyebrow. "You went in and trained on a Saturday? Wow, I'm still sore from the beginning of the week. I really didn't think I'd be in an alternate dimension training with an ex-SEAL. I probably would have stepped up my gym routine at home if I'd had an idea."

She took another sip of her drink, quickly averting her eyes when she saw Nick spill some of his coke. It was the polite thing to do and she was vaguely amused to see he was drinking coke. It appeared underage drinking here wasn't really encouraged like at home.

"I can't believe I'm in a different world at all," she admitted. "It's easier because I knew one person here but there's so many different types of people. It's like, I don't know, a cultural awareness week too. Thanksgiving was fun, I enjoyed the football," She sipped at her drink again. "Oh and classes start for me on Monday which I'm already looking forward to. John was sweet enough to give me his class notes so I've already read up on the classes for the first week. This is all so new to me, I don't wanna be behind."

Nick shrugged, not making a big deal out of training on a Saturday. "The things I know and the things they want us to know here are different, and they have a lot more experience being old and all."

He put his feet up on the seat of the chair, resting his arms on his knees. "Who'd you know here already? Were you friends?" he asked, curious. "The classes here are kinda cool. Better than high school English, I can tell you that. And I got out of reading Catcher in the Rye."

"True. I was happy to sleep in this morning though," she admitted. She'd woken up without an alarm and had had the biggest smile on her face for being able to do so. "What sort of things do you know?

"Tim Riggins and yeah, we're friends," Tyra said with a grin. "They sound interesting and Troy said he was enjoying them. Also I know it sounds pretty... Uncool but I'm studying for my BA in Government so some of these classes on profiling and psychology. They could actually come in really useful if or when we can go back," she added with a smile.

"I remember high school English," Tyra had never been a fan of class in general until she'd decided that she had a shot at college and should at least try to get there. "I think we read the Scarlet Letter at your age. Why is it the books are good until you have to study them for the months and suck all the fun right out 'em?"

"Agent-type things," Nick replied. "Combat, execution, that sort of stuff." Still, it was way different here. It was about keeping alive, not killing people. "A BA? That's college, right? There's a bunch of people here that were in college, or about to start like Alexis. Maybe you can all do that online college and finish your degrees."

"You were an agent?" she asked, eyebrows raised. "But you're- You're still in high school, right?"

She nodded when he asked about college. "Yeah, I was at the University of Texas, UT. I loved it, it was great. Most of the classes were really interesting."

She shrugged. "I'm not sure. From what I've figured out, we're probably not going to have a normal life here anyway so I might as well leave it till I get back home. A degree in this dimension isn't going to mean anything in my own dimension."

"Yeah, and yeah. But that was the idea. No one thinks teenagers can do anything so it's the perfect cover to get close to people adults can't." Nick gave her a lopsided grin. "I've got a pretty good record of successful missions, and I'm not dead yet, so I'd say it's working."

He listened to her talk about college. Most of those here seemed to have loved it. Maybe all those movies about college life were more truth than fiction. His brain, of course, went there, picturing Tyra bikini wrestling in whipped cream.

"The Geek Squad!" he all but shouted, in a desperate escape attempt from what happened with the cherries. "Um, I heard they're working on a way to get us back home, but it's slow going. Like rush hour during construction season slow. It could be years." Nick's eyes widened. "I didn't mean that to make you feel bad. Or like you won't get your degree. Lot's of old people go to college, too." Oh em gee, someone shoot him. "But we'll get home long before that, so don't worry."

"I guess so. It just seems a bit- I don't know, wrong to expect somebody so young to do some of this stuff," She'd almost said kid but managed to stop herself at the last minute. "I mean when I was your age, I was all about enjoying myself."

She was a bit shocked when he talked about the Geek Squad loudly, wondering if there was something a little ... wrong with the boy. Or whether he was just nervous around new people or women. She thought it was the latter but wasn't 100% on that.

"Yeah, I heard so too but it can't be easy sending us to a different universe. Imagine if they sent us to the wrong one," She shook her head. "I'll get it one day if I possibly can. Were you thinking about college yet? Where are you from?"

Nick scratched the back of his head, making his hair stick up. Hormones plus 100, coolness factor zero. Being sixteen sucked. "I don't know. I liked the job. Most kids have to work at McDonald's after school. I got to assassinate people and didn't have to wear a dorky uniform to do it. Most of the time."

He took another drink of his soda as she asked him about college. "I'm from Chicago, and the closest I came to thinking about college was taking the SATs this year. I tend not to look ahead too far."

"Dorky uniform?" She snorted, not sure whether to be offended or not. Sure, she hadn't enjoyed waitressing that much but it had paid the bills. "I'm a former employee of Applebee's and sure, the job kinda sucked, but I think I'd have preferred that over being a secret agent. Killing people isn't something I'd put on my life ambition list by choice."

She was pretty sure a secret agent would have stayed secret for all of a day in Dillon anyhow. Things had a way of getting out.

"Chicago?" She smiled. "I've never been. It's supposed to be a pretty cool city though, right?"

Nick didn't think anything about killing people. He supposed it made him a better D.E.P.P. agent. "Chicago's cool enough. It's easy to hop the El and go downtown where all the museums and stuff are." Not that he did that much; he mostly used the El to get to missions. He so needed a driver's license. "Where are you from in Texas?"

Tyra wasn't sure what to say. He'd insulted her teenage job and then not apologized. Back home she wouldn't have stood for bad manners and she didn't think she'd start now.

"I think you need to be more self-aware. Now I don't know what they do in Chicago," Matt hadn't come back radically changed although he hadn't asked Coach Taylor for Julie's hand in marriage. She thought that was a Matt thing though. "But we don't take insults lightly where I'm from," she said, keeping her tone light and a smile on her face. "I'm just saying you might want to watch what you say to some people."

"I'm from Dillon. It's a blip of a town in West Texas," she added, answering his question.

Nick blinked at her, confused. "Insults?" He had no idea what she was talking about. "You asked where I'm from, I asked you back. What's wrong with that?" Did he stray into some strange women zone that he didn't know about?

"Insulting restaurant jobs," she pointed out, realizing the kid didn't have a clue. She was convinced she hadn't been so clueless at sixteen but then hindsight was a useful thing. "I'm just saying that you need to realize what people are saying. Those jobs aren't great but not all of us can or want to be teenage assassins."

She sighed, not sure if it was going in. "I'm not trying to be horrible, I'm just saying be a bit more aware of what people say. They could take offense easily."

"Um, okay." Nick hadn't thought he was being insulting. "I'll remember that." He probably wouldn't since he didn't get it. Those uniforms really were dorky, to anyone wearing them.

He hopped off the chair. "I'm gonna grab another coke. Want another beer?"

And now she wasn't sure if she'd been too harsh on a teenager but she figured that she would probably be nicer saying it than some of the agents around here. Tyra decided to chalk it as something she'd tried; hopefully it was just nerves making him act like a bit of an idiot and he'd be more comfortable the next time they spoke.

"Thanks for offering but it's nearly my song anyway," She got up from her seat. "See you around, Nick," she said before heading up to the stage to get ready for her next song.
