RP: Jazz Night
Who: Public (add your tags)
Where: The new jazz club
When: November 5, 2011
Summary: It's a different kind of night
This was the work he was born to do. It was fun and rewarding. Of course opening night was even more thrilling, even if this was not a hot club, but a place for less than forty people. Still, Brian didn't let that stop him from making sure that everything was perfect, and when he opened the doors at 8:00 pm, the house could have been a real jazz club.
The entire house had been remodeled. All the walls were now covered in fake brick panels to give it the warm feeling that plain sheet rock couldn't. The floor had been covered with vinyl tiles that resembled stone. The bright bulbs were replaced with warm, low voltage lights. He had picked lights of different colors as well.
The most work was done in the living room. The kitchen area had been taken out completely. The fridge had been moved into the second bedroom, together with some cabinets, an electric stove, microwave, and some tables. Where the kitchen used to be, Brian had set the stage and right in front a dance area. It hadn't cost anything, because he still had the wooden tiles and stage dais that he had bought for Savannah's wedding. The microphones and speakers he had used there had also been recycled, with the speakers spread through the house.
All around the room, there were mismatched couches, arm chairs, coffee tables and pillows that added to the ambiance of a jazz club. The other three bedrooms has an assortment of couches, tables and chairs. There was also art with different themes and candles spread around the rooms. He'd raided whatever was at the base, plus pretty much every yard sale and second hand furniture store. Some people paid top dollars for the 'retro' look; he had to disinfect everything for the same result.
The dinner for the birthday was held in one of the back bedrooms-cum-dining rooms. He had closed the door so that they wouldn't hear when the others would started to arrive. All the food had been catered, something that Hanna had dealt with, so Brian didn't have to deal with anything, other than to make sure that the 'club' had plates, glasses and other utensils.
Brian made sure that everyone was seated before dinner was over, and there were a couch and chairs reserved for the family. He didn't know how Hanna dealt with Sean or how they had managed to form a band, but they had Sean up there, with Dom playing the guitar, Alexis on the violin, Renko at the keyboard. It was time to play.
