Re: Alexis/Emily/Derek
"Any time," Emily agreed. Despite the family nature and closeness of the team, she'd always enjoyed it when the three of them -- Emily, Penelope, and JJ -- had been able to go out and just do a girls' day shopping or night out. Although, the nine hundred dollar shoes were probably out of her current budget. "Pick a day and we'll hit the stores. We can even get started on our Christmas shopping early."
Chuckling, she shook her head. "Not that close." Alexis didn't pull any punches, it seemed. Tell it as she saw it. Emily could appreciate that. "I'm sure he was more interested in the trying than succeeding for the moment."
Oh, Emily remembered the days when bright and funny could sweep a girl off her feet. "Reid's a good guy, a good friend to have." And Emily was still hoping that's all Alexis saw. "I can understand that. My parents are both diplomats and it's tough, sometimes, getting through on your own merit and not because of who your parents are. I've had to work a lot harder than some other agents to prove I could do the job for real and didn't get in on my mother's name. But, I wouldn't say it doesn't matter now. It'll be harder, studying around everything else you have to do here. But, there's no reason you can't learn more in your chosen field. You're already working with Reid. You could probably ask some of the others for help as well. Dom or John, perhaps." Those two seemed a little less...focused...than Cooper. "Maybe see if there's room for a research assistant?"
