The honeymoon had been great, a chance for the two of them to just be together, and be married without the distractions that came from living there on the base. Marty wanted to be married to Savannah, he loved and just like he'd told her before he couldn't imagine a life without her in it.
Despite that though, there had been a small bit of doubt in the back of his mind that made him unsure if being married and being there on the base, doing their jobs, and everything else that made up their lives there would actually work, if it would change things in a bad way.
It turned out though, he needn't have worried.
Leaning back against the headboard that night with Savannah beside him, his wife beside him, Marty felt more than ever that this was what he'd wanted and needed and the two of them were just good together. It didn't feel strange or stilted being back there in their day to day lives, it just felt good. He wound his arm around her when Savannah leaned in close to him that night.
He raised an eyebrow at her when she started talking about how long they'd been there and how it was safer then than it might be in the future. "Sure, I think for the most part being here on the base is pretty safe, all things considered." The things considered of course being constantly surrounded by soldiers who just needed an order to come after them, being right under the thumb of a government who was trying to keep them a secret, and constantly having to be sure they weren't being watched too closely. "It could be safer, but there's not much we can do about that."
