"I like it, too. I like being different, I like that I can absorb knowledge and keep it, that I can save people's lives and serve my country, I wouldn't be good at my job without it I don't think," Reid said with a shrug. "I mean, being smart helps, too."
That little smile said a lot and Spencer smiled down at the playing cards. People were so obvious sometimes and he wondered what the real situation was there.
"I think either way would have been tough. Maybe not so bad if I could have greeted you, but still," Spencer said with a little smile. Sure he wasn't going to be the first choice as someone to help people settle in, but someone like Mike probably would have appreciated his explanation. "Now we're here," he agreed, giving a little nod.
"It might not fade, just because you're an agent here doesn't mean you're not going back to be a lawyer there, right?" Spencer asked, tilting his head a little. "There must be a story there," he prompted, knowing now probably wasn't the time nor was it the place for a heart to heart. But he was always happy to listen.
