Re: Spencer and Mike
Mike grinned and nodded. "Recognition is the best." Maybe he gave away a bit too much about himself with that, but Mike knew he craved, and though he tried not to be obvious about it he was sure he didn't always succeed in that endeavor. But like Reid said, he was easy to talk to.
Watching the way Reid smiled when he talked about Parker, Mike grinned. At least some people here were making friends and getting close, as if a bachelor party itself wasn't enough evidence of that. "Chess is a good game, it's hard to find someone who appreciates it." Outside of things like chess club, and Mike had a little self-respect even when he'd been a nerdy teenager. Or maybe he hadn't, he'd had Trevor.
"Yeah I know, I've gotten the run down." One the one hand he thought the whole thing was kind of amazing and fascinating and it brought out that part of him that wanted to learn and read and figure it out the way he did with things, and on the other hand he just wanted to go home. He could appreciate the placating answers, the ones meant to reassure - that they'd get home eventually because they were working on it. "So we're in good hands then, is what you're saying."
"What?" Mike asked snapping out of his thoughts, when Reid asked if things with Harvey were going to become a big deal. "No, no, no - no I mean, yeah no." He shook his head. "It was a joke, you know?" Things with Harvey were just complicated, they always had been, it wasn't anything new here. Perhaps new levels of complicated, but Mike could deal with that.
