"I think a lot of people around here don't know the first thing about being polite so it's good you at least know better," Spencer teased, finding it easy to talk to her because she really did seem to still be a child even if she was a very smart one.
"Twelve, I was pretty advanced for my age," Spencer said in answer to her question. "So you were due to start college soon?" He asked, trying to ask at least a few questions although hers still seemed to be coming thick and fast. "I didn't know what I wanted to do, so I just kept doing degrees until I figured it out," he said, pausing to think about how the other Spencer had taken a totally different path to him and wondering what his job was like. "I wanted to do everything, too. So I did as much as I could."
Spencer knew the feeling and he nodded, feeling terrible for someone who was here without their entire support network. "We're working on it, I promise," he assured her. "You can always come and knock on my door, any time," Spencer said, wanting to make sure Alexis didn't feel isolated.
