Connor wasn't crazy for jumping to conclusions. Luther was still the crazy one here, after all, and Connor couldn't be faulted for seeing a connection even if it wasn't the main problem. It wasn't like there was any easy guide to understanding Luther. Poor kid. It was like navigating a three-wheeler through a whole storm of crazy. Connor could be the best driver in the entire world and he'd still be steering blind. Despite his stony silence as he listened to his partner's little tirade, the comment about checking Amazon twice was enough to get a small upward twitch of his mouth, and after a moment, Luther even smiled. He glanced at his hands, palms lifted in front of him because there was nothing else he could do with them, and let them fall on his stomach.
"I'm no fun, I know." Then again, Connor was a royal pain in the ass, so clearly that made them even. They both had their worse qualities and most people probably wouldn't have put up with either of them for this long. They hadn't been given a choice. Made things a little easier to accept, sometimes. Luther had been forced to get used to him. "It's not about her." He went quiet again for a moment, as Luther was often wont to do when forced to talk for any extended period of time. Then he shrugged. "I mean, I guess it is a little bit. Not Nikki, not how you mean, but just...being able to walk around like I was anybody, Connor, without feeling like I was being watched, that was something I haven't been able to do for a long fucking time. It felt a little like time was turning backwards for a while there."
Luther glanced up at his partner again, then snorted. "'Cept for the zombies. But even that was kinda fun, you know." Only Luther.
