She hadn't noticed, she'd been too caught up in the trap that was her own memories. Usually she didn't let that happen, especially with a patient. Medical code forbade doctor/patient relationships for that very reason, or at least, doctor/patient romantic liaisons. It didn't stop people, of course, but it was illegal. Not that he was dating material. He was cleaner now, but that was about all she could say for him. He still looked like he'd been to hell and back. Actually, given his recent past (and six or seven years was quite recent to an immortal, barely even a blink of the eye), he had been to hell and back. The Christian version of hell, at that.
"I'm not a cure, Zeus. I'm a distraction. There is no medical reason that a person's mere presence should cure anyone of anything. Just take your mind off it. Drug addiction is mostly psychological in nature anyway. Not completely, but I would think for those like us, that would be even more the case than for a human."
