Hera felt the magnetic draw her brother-husband still apparently had and soon found herself leaning towards him. When she noticed it, she took herself in hand and took a firm step back. She had thought two thousand years had been enough to erase that pull from her very being.
Apparently not.
“It would be more truthful on your part to say I’m a sight for sore eyes, seeing as yours are so bloodshot they must hurt. Not that you have even a passing acquaintance with the truth, even if you were quite the connoisseur of women’s beauty standards.”
She took a deep breath, choking slightly on the smell coming off him, and turned to go, just as her student came out the door to the building texting someone on her cell phone.
“Thanks again, Dr. Washington,” the student waved, then hurried off in the opposite direction, her eyes clearly curious as to what her professor was doing talking to a bum.
For her part, Hera had to bite back a groan. Lovely. Now he knew the name she was using. Just what she needed.
