Who: Zeus and Hera What: A meeting at last When: Wednesday Where: UCLA campus Warning: Language
Zeus hated panhandling. He had a little bit of pride and it mainly pertained to his independence and ability to find money on his own. Actually, he didn’t mind sitting on a street corner with a sign because then he didn’t have to actually look at anyone but the money he got from that was nothing compared to if he went out and asked.
He wouldn’t have even done it if he hadn’t gotten robbed two days ago. He’d taken a two day job holding a sign for a start up business that had gotten him a few bucks. Unfortunately some assholes had been watching him when he came out of the building and as soon as he was alone, he’d gotten jumped. So now here he was back at square one: panhandling at UCLA. The students were some of the most generous givers. There were a lot of sympathetic kids here who weren’t so jaded with life that they barked at him to get a fucking job. Most of the time. The risk he ran was getting surrounded and beaten up by over privileged frat boys. That was the worst but he always got them back.
Zeus kept moving so security wouldn’t catch him but it was a bad time of day to pander. The campus was emptier than it was in the fall with most kids on summer break and those still going to school were in class. Plus it was hot as Tartarus so most people were staying inside. Zeus hardly felt the heat as the chills of withdrawal started to make him shake. He’d gotten fifteen bucks, hardly worth the effort but enough for a good hit if he was lucky. He needed more so headed toward the science buildings hoping that some absentminded science student would give him a fifty.
