Maya giggled. She was more than aware of the temptation her offer presented, and similarly Birdy's reluctance to take her up on it. "I know I don't have to," she said. "But I will. Anyway you'll only be standing there thinking about being here, and someone will end up with their mind trapped in another dimension or something."
She stood up and put a hand on his shoulder, turning her head slightly. "You need to be here right now, Birdy. Your wife needs you. This sort of thing is what you keep me around for, you know."
