Her day hadn't gone awesomely. At the school someone had thought she was a kid due to her height, she'd come home to find that Barty had found a way out of the crate she'd set up to keep him safe and away from her wires, and her cute red dress was now a cute red-and-mud dress. She rarely went to the smithy, but she did that day with her little rain boots replacing her usual heels as she pushed the door open with her shoulder after being sure to flick the light switch outside the door that warned the folks inside that someone who was likely not wearing safety goggles or equipment.
Stepping in, the heat of the forge hit her right away. She put the Tupperware with two cupcakes in it down on the table and waited for Bear to turn and look at her, knowing better than to go up and touch him when he was busy with something that was potentially a weapon or just hot and painful. She had no wish to die, after all. Or get maimed, she was a cute girl and having a burn across her face wouldn't help her out.
After a while she took at seat at the table, actually climbing up onto it and sitting cross legged and taking her phone out like every other girl in the world waiting for their brother in a forge.
The forge was nice, but it was hot and soon Justine was taking her raincoat and cardigan off, fanning herself with one hand. She liked fire- loved it in fact. But she was used to it flying away from her, not staying around her in a suffocating manner. She wanted to yell out, but she'd been yelled at before by other blacksmithing students for doing that, and Abe Smith was there and she didn't know what sort of reflexes the 10th year had in this environment.
Finally, Justine just flopped onto the table, turning her head to watch Bear. She hadn't exactly told him ahead of time she was going to come, but wasn't it right for a sister to go bother her big brother on his first day of work? Besides, she had every intention of dragging him with her for dinner and then to meet Bartley with her. Because Justine and never had a pet before, and she was willing to bet that Bear hadn't had pets growing up either. Or if he had, it hadn't been with any of the families they'd shared.
