Beckett & Zooey
Beckett knew exactly what he was getting himself into when he’d decided to not only go on the trip to Paris but spend the first day there with Zooey in a mandatory group tour. He was completely prepared for her reaction – or, well, as prepared as he could be under the circumstances. He knew she was going to be mad at him and she’d probably ignore him, yet he still had to try.
It’d been two years already. When he’d checked in on her after Clara’s death, Beck thought he’d felt progress and he knew he couldn’t slack off if he wanted to fix things between them. He gave her space, plenty of space, but now it was time to act again. If he sat out on this opportunity just because he was afraid of what might happen, then he wasn’t worthy of being her older brother. He wasn’t worthy to be her older brother now, so it wasn’t like he had much to lose.
The tour of the wineries had begun. Beckett hung with the other staff members for a while as he gathered up the nerves needed to face his little sister. He wasn’t sure how he should approach her, but he didn’t want to push it off for too long either. So, at the first opening, he headed over to her with a casual smile. “Hi,” he greeted, lifting his hand up in a small wave, “Are you enjoying the tour?”
