Then maybe it's true that I can't live without you

But there's so much time to figure out the rest of my life
Ferran tried to be with Raisa as often as possible after her return. His time was split between her, helping where he could after the kidnappings, prepping for the next semester, and most recently, moving back into his house. While it was nice to be back in his own space, it didn't feel like home, partially because it was all new and partially because he hadn't settled in. The task was overwhelming with four years of stuff scattered about the small abode.
It was so strange for it to be him and Arpeggio again. The emptiness of the house made him think about Raisa all the more. After her kidnapping and subsequent rescue, he'd felt a tremendous tug in the center of his chest toward his friend. The idea of anything horrible happening to her set his stomach to knots. These feelings he tried to dismiss as merely caring for her in a platonic way, but the more he dwelled on the them, the more they seemed to lean toward something else. It probably wasn't appropriate to think about such things after what happened to the students, but he couldn't get his mind off how much better life was with her around.
That was why he unpacked the kitchen during his lunch break and invited Raisa over for dinner. It was a small gesture of appreciation, though he wasn't sure what he was appreciating. Her existence? Maybe a hope that her presence would make the house seem more homey? It could have also been a small dose of guilt for not joining the rescue mission. Dinner was finished and on the table. It was a simple meal. Ferran was a mediocre cook at best and didn't want the first meal in the new place to be disgusting. As he looked around the small space, he became somewhat self conscious about the mess of boxes everywhere. His intention was to unpack a bit more while he waited for Raisa to arrive, but in reality, he just moved them from one stack to another.
