Ben | Morgan & Open to the others
Morgan’s dark eyes widened slightly in surprise, and he looked around at the other weary, drawn faces around them. It had seemed like coincidence at first glimpse, but it was true: every student in this room had family on the island. His lips thinned, narrowing into a slit of displeasure.
“Fuck,” he said, plainly. “This must be—” He didn’t like thinking of it, didn’t enjoy the mental image of him and Lemon being dangled like worms on a hook for their father, but: “They must be using us to mess with our family. I mean, your mom’s the headmaster. If they wanted to get to her, what better way, yeah?”
Growing up on the island had always been a benefit: Clementine had been inutterably jealous of him for it, it had brought him friends, made the place into home in a way it wasn’t always for the new arrivals. He’d never thought of this potential downside until now.
