Re: Morgan | Ben
Ben had been similarly groggy ever since he'd first become aware of what was happening. He'd been trying to reach Max by shifting his foot over inch by painfully slow inch, but he was too far away from any of the others to touch them. He'd also tried to count the guards, but it was hard to see in the dark and they were all wearing black. He'd noticed that everyone were offspring of island staff. He remembered seeing Mena's face in the hall before everything went dark, but he couldn't see her anywhere. He had to find her. If he sat here doing nothing and something happened to her... He hadn't seen Rory, or had he? It was all a blur.
He heard Morgan's voice and felt his heart leap. He stayed still until the exchange was over, studying it. He watched Morgan settle back and found his face in the shadows. He widened his eyes slightly to show he was awake. What could they do? Morgan was a Psychic student. Neither of them had weapons and they were outnumbered, unless they could somehow corral all the others into a coordinated attack. But Ben was sure he could take at least one of them. He was closest to the doors. Maybe if he could...
The truck shuddered and stopped. No one moved; a rest stop, maybe. It had to be now or never... Ben raised his eyebrows at Morgan and tipped his head towards the nearest guard. Maybe if he could get the older boy to make a distraction, he could make a run for it, find Mena, or fetch help.
