Who: Aphrie & Poly What: Bars are fun Where: The Bar Adam works at When: Late Sunday Night, after the D-plosion. Warnings: None
Surprises were boring. Especially when they didn't work quite right.
Shiri sat in a semi-obscured, as obscured as any tiny table at a bar is, table but somewhere Adam had still not seen her yet. She didn't blame him as she tapped her stark white fingers against the probably artificial wood table top, watching the crowd. The crowd was the problem... The crowd and their intense desire to where so much white tonight. She was probably blending in. Her pastel pink sleeveless dress must not be enough to be seen.
Again, she didn't blame him. She wasn't even sure she was looking at the right bobbing head at the bar. People. Too many of them. Oh well, she would be found eventually. Unless she just gave up and bellied herself to the bar first.
Aphrodite had never had a night go so miserably in her life, then again it could be the need to just mope, which got her all frowning. The Love Goddess didn't mope unless she wasn't getting what she was wanting, and this moping wasn't from that. She had got what she wanted, just not had it work completely the way she had wanted to. Then she just kept clashing with poor Dionysius with his bad mood, and her god knows what was going on with her. She never cared before that people were using her, because she was using them right back. It was stupid.
Her plum shoes that matched the plum wrap around dress she wore clacked on the cement as she walked to god knows where, she had parked way back there just wanting to get out and have some fresh air think, but she really didn't want to THINK on what was really bothering, wanted to just ignore all that, but still be frustrated about the way she was acting. She saw the bar, and looked up, a feeling of peace was coming from it even with all the people crowded in it. She looked around for its origin when she walked in, pushing and shoving through people, but as of yet she couldn't really pin point where it was coming from. All she knew is she wanted a drink... in the worse way.... and to be as near that peace she could get.
She moved through the place toward the back of the bar, getting her butt smacked and a good few 'hey baby buy you a drink' which maybe if she wasn't in such a down mood she would have taken up on and maybe even got laid again, but they just got snarled at and scowled at, from the beauty that got them backing down pretty fast. She finally found a little tiny table that was away from every one, and in its darkness seemed to be a light beaming from it like a beacon with the whiteness coming from it. Poly? She thought. She made her way toward her, and when she finally got there she said, "Poly?"
Shiri didn't even need to look up. She knew she didn't know that voice and so she leapt to her feet, putting both her chair and the table between her and this... woman? Woman. This strange woman she did not know. Her pink eyes were wide with panic, but she had enough self control not to eep too loudly, “Who? Why? How?” Ah, that made perfect sense. Yes.
She shook her head, Dammit.... She sighed, and put her hands lightly and none threateningly on the other woman's shoulders. She whispered calmly, "Sorry, its me Aphrodite, don't ask I don't want to talk about it, but I had to change the way I looked. I just forgot in the excitement of running into someone I knew." She also felt that this was where the peace was coming from, so definitely the muse she was naming.
Oh. Aphrodite... Aphrodite? Shiri looked at the woman more carefully as she put a hand over her heart, as if that would help its frantic pace. “/Careful with being so free with the names. There could be vicious god monsters here ready to swallow us whole..../” the muse hissed-whispered softly in French, assuming that the drunken masses around them would not know French readily. But she sat back down in her chair. There were probably no god-monsters here. Honestly, they may just be figments of her father's imagination. “Last time we saw each other, you were less than excited about seeing me.”
She shrugged. "[Things change.]" She said back softly so only she could hear. She knew French, she knew many languages, but she didn't feel like using any of the others, the ancient seemed to slip from her lips more readily lately. "[Just been feeling like family may mean something even if it is as dysfunctional as our own.]"
A cocktail waitress came up as she saw the new person with nothing in front of them. "Drink?" Aphrodite looked up at the young girl and said, "Vodka straight up..." It was hard, but she didn't care, she wanted to be numb, which wasn't something Cynthia wanted to do in the past all too often. Good, Bad she had always wanted to feel it all, to feel meant you were alive, and before this she loved being alive. "[I had to use my given name, you wouldn't have recognized the mortal name I have either. I had to change that too.]"
It all sounded sinister, and even a bit bad on her without her explaining it more, but really she didn't know if she could tell one more person what had happened, even if it was just a short explanation.
The muse was only a tad confused as she listened and leaning back in her chair, she ceased to care if the other used the ancient tongue. Just whatever. If there were god-monsters, she only had to run faster than her half-sister here. So, she smiled as her eyes lifted to the waitress. Waitress? Ugh. Where was her mortal? She scanned the bar again and sighed. Too many people. Couldn't see him and she probably couldn't order him like she could a drink.
Waving the girl away, not wishing a drink right now herself, “Does not sound like you changed your name for a fun reason...”
She shook her head. "[Not really. Hence not wanting to talk about it really. So, lets talk about you then. The last time we talked I believe we were talking about boyfriends?]"
Her drink came, and she downed it ordering another quickly. The waitress liked the fifty she waved at her as she said, "Keep them coming hunny I go empty full one in front of me, right?" She looked then at the muse before her.
Again, her pink eyes moved to the highly obscured bar. “I think he might be that dark haired haired head,” Shiri pointed, “Or that one.” It felt odd to be having this conversation, but then again Aphrodite was the first person she confessed this love to.
She smiled, at least there was still love, and she still had her love of Ares. He just had been busy lately so she had been up to her own vices, which were shopping, and well sex if she could find it but after tonight and the flop that she had went through with D it was pretty much the last thing on her mind, so drinking sounded good.
"So it goes well?" She asked, switching to English again, as if she wanted to speak it then she would to. "I didn't know this was where he worked," She turned her head to try to get a glimpse of who she was talking about, but her view was just as obstructed as hers. She smiled as she turned. "Yeah Ian and I seem to be doing well, now that we are back together again."
“Yes.” It was an easy confession on the muse's part and for once it wasn't a secret she held close to her chest. There was no reason. She was sitting across from Mama Love after all. What secrets could she hold. “Looking for young flesh here? I assume Ian has enough alcohol to keep you from resorting to bars...” Though the way Aprhodite was downing those shots, maybe it was just to get drunk... Hmmm
She shrugged. "Didn't really want to go home yet. I might not actually, I don't want to go back to my Ares in my current mood. Might go settle down in a hotel as close to here as I can after I get more then sloshed." She sipped this time at her drink, but still wasn't going as slow with it as she normally would. She normally nursed drinks could have one all night if she wanted.
A short snort came from her as she asked if she was looking for young flesh. "Hardly, if I were I probably had never got here." She shrugged. "No, as odd as it seems at the moment sex is the furthest thing from my mind, and yes Ian is well stocked." She cocked her head wondering how she knew that, but shoving it aside as well what Ian did when she wasn't around was Ian's business just like what she did was her business. It seemed to work for them, so that was how it was played out.
Shiri didn't even realize she was doing something until it was too late to stop. She reached out and put her hand along the other goddess' forehead as if to see if she had a fever... or maybe that her temperature had gotten cooler. Some temperature change that would testify to something being wrong with her. Not thinking about sex...
Cynthia blinked at her. "What are you doing?" She didn't move away from the touch just was shocked by the gesture. She sighed. She wasn't sure if she could handle much more of this shocking people. However, she was doing it all the time, and well if she didn't feel like utter crap for failing D she probably would be all up for another conquest or two.
Though really she truthful just didn't want sex at the moment, didn't think she would find comfort or pleasure in it, in whatever mood she was in at the moment. "Shiri, have you ever just woke up and felt like you were in a walking nightmare that you didn't know how to get out of? OO and By the way its Cynthia Carmichael."
The surname was less jarring than the question, and the muse pulled back and folded her hands on her lap. “A walking nightmare?” She looked down to her pale folded hands and smiled softly. Perhaps it would appear comforting as Shiri considered the words, “Sometimes. Some times more often than others. Why?”
Cynthia shrugged. "Just different, everything is different. Me, my name, which really I didn't mind changing I hated that name I had given myself must have been high or something to have come up with that." That was where she left it for the time being she was still fighting about thinking about anything that happened, or how she felt about really being missing that two months.
Shiri nodded, “And now everything continues to go wrong? Even worse than the reason you made such a change?”
She nodded her head. "Yep, strange things pop in my head, and where normally I would not act on something the strange thoughts seem to get me acting one way or the other, and I am left with WHO THE FUCK was that?"
There was a new drink before, and she didn't even remember finishing the other. She blinked, shrugged to herself, and sipped once again at the new drink.
Oh dear. That... was something Shiri couldn't relate to at all. Why couldn't have just been a terrible situation? She could have spoken about that in spades! Oh dear, oh dear... The muse took a moment to think this through again. “Have you taken any time to get in touch with yourself?”
Another snort came out of her. She didn't want to get in touch with this, that was her problem, she rather just not look at it even though she probably knew deep down that, that would probably make things at least a little better, but she just didn't want to go there, and she wasn't sure if she ever did.
"Yeah, I think that is what I am avoiding, and it might help me to look at it, but I really don't want to. I don't want to go there." She drank down the drink, and really she was starting to feel numb. She smiled, cocking her head. "I talked to Joanna not to long ago." She used her mortal name, hoping that she would know who she was talking about, and well it seemed to have bothered her when she used their true name. Purposefully changing the subject, and hoping she wasn't one of those that would not allow it to happen.
The phrase “You know, I could help you with getting in touch with yourself. It is mediation,” but it died upon Shiri's lips before it ever gained any sound. The muse of pantomime could tell by body language alone that such a conversation change was desired and did not wish to upset Aphrodite. She didn't want to finally find Adam and discover he didn't love her anymore or something terrible like that. “That must have been pleasant at the very least.”
"It was." She nodded. Vengeance wasn't on her mind much now, though she had been such a way for so long it wouldn't be beyond her to think others wouldn't think such. "We had ice cream, and just nattered." She blinked. "I am sorry... You were probably waiting for your boyfriend, and I just barge in and..." She shrugs. "I should probably go anyway, not much good company for anyone, not even myself." She smiled slightly, trying to make some lame attempt at a joke. She lay the fifty down and then another fifty on top of that. "If you get anything its on me. Thanks for listening to my strange and odd babblings and not making me feel worse for them. She smiled genuinely, and went to leave. Before she left the table completely, she turned and said, "I bless your relationship, and I hope that it goes well." However, then she thought a second after she said that she had said something similar to D about Apollo and him, and now look where they were. She shook her head and sighed, good lord of something happened to Shiri and her boyfriend and she found out about she would probably think she were cursed or something that somehow she had even lose what little powers on love she had which really weren't all that much.
Shiri blinked and blinked again. She did not blink the third time and quickly snatched that extra fifty. College student after all. Not just that but Aphrodite was the mother of her college friends. That made it okay. But that didn't mean she was any less confused, “Um, if you ever want to face your inner self... I could help...” That wasn't inspiring people to pagan priesthood after all, so it should be okay.
Aphrodite turned when she heard her say her last thing. She smiled. "Thank you, if I ever do get to having the strength to look at it, I will call you. I really do hope you have a great rest of the evening, and thank you again, I feel a bit better." It wasn't a bold lie, she did feel a bit better, maybe it was just the peace that the young muse exuded, but she didn't feel as bad as she had when she first entered, and well the blissful numbness she was feeling from the god knows how many drinks she had downed wasn't so bad either.
The muse waved goodbye to her and as soon as her back was turned reached to get her phone and quickly sent a text to Ian... Ares. “-- Your love just drank like seven shots of vodka in front of me and is now leaving (address). I think she wishes to be alone, let her mind settle and not saddle you with her unhappy mood, but perhaps you or a stable hand should follow her. I would not want something to happen her in such a state.--”
As soon as it was sent however, the phone was put away and forgotten. It was back in her bag and the muse was up to her feet. Aphrodite might not be looking for young flesh, but she certainly was. Flesh she loved very much.
Summary: Shiri is out to surprise Adam. Cynthia is out to get drunk and numb. Let the scene begin.
