Who: Persephone and Hades
What: Surprises
Where: Their home
When: After the wedding
Warnings: none
As Persephone collapsed onto her bed, still swathed in wedding dress, she was thankful for many things. She was thankful to be married again, this time forever bound to the right man. She was especially thankful for her personal assistant and frequent babysitter who was giving her a day to not worry about her daughters and focus on herself.
"My feet are killing me..." She murmured against the sheets. She glanced over her shoulder at her husband. "You had a surprise for me? Is it a foot rub?"
Her husband was in the process of taking off his tie and suit jacket; he had had quite enough of them after laying her down on the bed. And he dared not glance over his shoulder at her. He knew what he would see – the moonlight coming through the window, gracing her skin and that dress.
But when she mentioned the surprise, Hades smirked a little and dared to turn. Her desire for that surprise would make sure he actually gave her the surprise and not be distracted from it. “No, it's not a foot rub. No one told you to wear those shoes for so long...” he murmured as he neared the bed and sat at the foot.
"Fashion told me to," she replied, a pout gracing her face. She let out a little sigh, pushing herself up and undoing her shoes. They were tossed these away before leaning over onto his shoulder. She pushed her lips out, asking for a kiss.
He gladly obliged her, before brushing her hand from her face, “Suppose you had to obey fashion, having been a super model.” His fingers slipped from her hair after he idly curled it around them and rested upon her shoulder. With a small smile, he couldn't help but tease her, “Now what was that you were asking me about?”
"My surprise~" Persephone cooed, a bright smile on her features. "Not that I can think of anything better than the day has already been."
Hades' small smile continued; he held it there to try to block out the anxiety that his gift would only make her mourn a past lost. But he had a feeling that was a thought only he would have... he nodded. “Close your eyes.”
Persephoned sat upright, placing her hands in her lap as she dutifully closed her eyes. She didn't quite know what she would be presented with, but she knew his heart was full of love for her, which gave her plenty of excitement for the surprise.
Sliding from the bed, Hades kissed either of her hands upon her lap before, sneaking away from her and their bedroom. He had had to hide it where neither Persephone or Delaney but now was the time. He returned and knelt down before her with her former crown in his hands – he had repaired it and restored it to its finest detail and now before her, he said, “[Love, open your eyes.]”
Persephone opened her eyes obediently, glancing down at what he held. Her mouth hung agape for a moment. She reached out and gripped it tentatively, taking it into her hands and examining it. She had truly thought this was lost to her, which caused her to question what she was holding. "[Did you recreate it?]"
Hades watched her carefully. Her reaction was one of the reactions he had imagined and hoped for... And her question wasn't surprising. How many times had he imagined giving her her crown once more? It had to been four times tonight alone. Shaking his head as he remained on his knees, reaching out to place his hands over hers, “[No. It's yours. Restored to how it had been when I first made you my queen before the entirety of the court.]”
"[How did you get this? I thought it was lost...]" Persephone murmured in amazement. "[It's...darling this is more than I ever could have hoped for.]"
“[It wasn't lost... just in the bowels of Hell. One of the times I went down, I sought it and found it... Since then I restored it.]” He stood and took it from her hands only to rest it upon her head, “[While I have no kingdom to offer you this time, you are still my queen.]”
Persephone cried, tears of gratitude trickling down her cheeks as she felt the familiar weight of the crown atop her head. She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him close. "[You are still the ruler of my heart, dearest.]" She sniffled, trembling against his body.
Hades didn't resist her pulling at all. He wrapped his arms around her in turn and pulled her to him with the same gratitude and need. Her tears, for once, were a joy and a comfort to his soul as he held her close, placing a gentle kiss just below where the crown met her brow, “[I promise to do right by such a title, my queen.]”
Summary: Hades gives Persephone the promised gift.
