"Eeee yes eee," Val grinned, cooing back at Adabella as the little girl tried to communicate with her mother. "Darling~" she called out into the house. "Come help me change them."
Jarrod stood up, shaking his head at the table he was sitting at. Across from him sat one of his sister-in-laws and to his right sat little Fred... And Jarrod continued to shake his head. Somehow, even his son was doing better than him at cards against the albino. She grinned and waved as he made his way through the hallway. “Your sister is some sort of card shark, I think, but Fred is enjoying the brightly colored chips.”
"She is a sneak...you didn't leave your cards on the table did you?" Val asked, hefting up Adabella. "One down. Ingrid, you're next."
“No, I kept them up. Fred has his cards all over but I don't think he gets poker yet...” Jarrod shrugged a little and picked up Ingrid to pass her to her mother and switch children, “She just could always see through my bluffing and knew when to fold.”
Val carefully handed over Adabella, holding Ingrid close and laying out her clothes. "Well you're a very straight forward guy. Bluffing isn't a strong point. Whereas we're artists and all artists are liars."
“You're all liars?” Jarrod twirled the little girl in his arms until she giggled and then cradled her to his chest.
"Mhmm, we manipulate words and pictures and sounds until they make you see what we want," Val explained, suiting Ingrid up in a pretty yellow sundress.
“Well, I've learned my lesson about playing against h...” Jarrod paused and little Adabella looked up at him in near-suspense. “I know how she did it. She is a sneak.”
"How?" Val perked. This story was getting interesting. Ingrid let out a long yawn. Her mother smiled, planting a kiss on her head.
Adabella reached out to touch her sister's hair with a similar yawn as her father continued on, “There was that big mirror you got behind me. She must have been looking at my cards the whole...”
“Come down here!” Shiri then shouted in her natural sing-song cadence, interrupting the story, “You have to see this!”
"Oh she's a sneak alright," Val nodded, hefting Ingrid up to her chest. "I think she's calling us. Grab a baby and let's go~"
Jarrod followed right behind with Adabella.
Shiri now sat right next to the little boy in his high chair, nearly bouncing in excitement as she waited to show the parents her newest discovery. “Look, look!” she called out as she caught first sight of them, “He can mimic with perfect pitch.” And with that she turned to the child and sang wordlessly, only to have been him sing back.
Val squeaked, scurrying over to her son. "That's amazing." She leaned over and sang at her son. This time Ingrid joined in. "Omigosh!"
“Both of them?” Shiri glanced over at Jarrod and nearly pounced, before standing directly in front of him reaching out for the little girl he carried. “Can I borrow her?”
Jarrod wasn't foolish enough to refuse. If he did, it would just be his wife pouncing over and she wouldn't stop and ask. She would just snatch. Carefully, he handed his daughter over to her aunt.
And the youngest muse brought her over to her siblings and sang at them all again, and grinned at Val when the three of them responded.
"Look~ they take after me!" Val cooed, grinning over at her husband. Yes, she was going to take all the credit for the muse genes.
And she should. Jarrod certainly wasn't a muse. But the second they broke out with expert swordplay, he would take genetic credit for that, “Maybe I should teach them Elven then. Then they can make you jealous singing in it.”
"Hey! You promised you'd teach me," Val murmured, a pout spreading across her face. She smoothed a hand over Fred's hair.
“They'd learn it faster and easier is all...” Jarrod murmured in reply.
Shiri ignored the domestic conversation and brought all her attention to the children, continuing to sing to the three of them.
Val set Ingrid in her high chair before turning to her husband. "I learn plenty fast." She smiled, hugging him tight. "So we have magical singing babies, huh?"
Jarrod nodded, putting an arm around her, “Looks like. Your sister isn't going to steal them from us, right?”
"She doesn't want to be a mommy right now--do you Polydoodle?" Val called over her shoulder. She pressed a kiss to Freyr's neck.
“Huh?” Her name broke her singing concentration, which made her frown as she spun around to look at her sister, “What was that?”
"You're not going to steal my babies and become their new mother are you?" Val asked, smiling brightly.
“Oh.” Shiri glanced back at the three singing babies. Sure, they were singing babies but... three of them? She wasn't even sure she wanted triplets of her own, nonetheless steal a set. She shook her head adamantly, “No, no. I am quite content having no responsibilities right now, thank you. You can have you talented offspring. I am fine with visiting them.”
"See? She's very opinionated about this," Val giggled, kicking up a heel. She pressed a kiss to her husband's lips. "Talented wunderkids are all ours."
“All yours,” Shiri murmured as she turned back around toward the children. She certainly wouldn't steal them, but she would shamelessly play with them their new little game until it was time for a nap or their parents took them away.
Jarrod returned the kiss gently and then snickered a little, “Now don't get any ideas for one of those crazy realities shows.”
"I promise. No reality tv. No balloon hoaxes...." Val smiled, glancing over at her sister. "She looks like she could watch them for awhile." She raised an eyebrow.
The Elf-god glanced over to the albino and the triplets with his own smile, “It does look like she has them handled, doesn't it?”
Not missing a beat, the albino muse waved off the two of them without ever dropping the melody she was singing to the children in, “Go ahead. I am fine here... though I expect the favor returned in some number of years.”
"Oh totally. Hell we'll have three babysitters who can do their own singalong sessions," Val laughed. Taking her husband's hand, she dragged him off so that they could enjoy a little quality time together.
Summary: During an afternoon visit of her sister, Valentine finds out her little triplets have musical talents she hadn't known about before.
