Who: Hades and Persephone (cameo by D) What: Perse makes a bad judgment call Where: Her house When: 6/9, Midday Warnings: Some domestic violence and cussing
"Well you look good enough to get back to work," D said, pushing back a piece oh Dahlia's hair. "Well they might have to put some makeup under those eyes. Tired much?"
Dahlia laughed, her shoulders shaking. It was nice to have a relief from all the stress that had been in her little family bubble lately. It was a pity the stress would be back full force soon--especially when Hades found out why D was in her house, enjoying a cup of coffee with his half-sister.
Not that he would go out and seek them. He had wanted to lock himself up, deep and dark somewhere, but both women in his life wanted to their moments of vigil and he understood both women would need rest from him. But it gave Hades time to lay on the floor, watching his little girl doing likewise, staring at him as he coughed. All he knew was he wished he was back with Hestia in that home... There was a bed in a vast basement he could be coughing and being miserable in.
Dahlia heard a cough, frowning as she readied a mug of ginger tea. She moved out to the living room, gesturing for D to follow. "Hi darling...I made you something for your stomach."
"Yo~" D said, waving briefly before stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Thanks for the ATV. It's shibby."
“Don't want any of your herbal bull...” Hades caught his tongue. It was getting very difficult to do so but he wasn't surprised by that as he pulled himself up to sitting, hearing D's voice. After all, emotional outbursts were a side effect of all of this.
He brought his black eyes to the god who didn't belong in the house. “Well, good. That's the point.”
"Okay well it's on the end table if you want it..." Dahlia replied quietly, setting herself down near her daughter. She smiled down at Delaney, brushing the hair out of her little girl's face.
D pulled a hand out, focusing himself and pulling his hand into a fist which he extended out to Hades. "Good to see you."
Hades looked down at that extended fist dubiously, “Aren't we a little too old for the fist bump greeting, mate?”
"Me? Heck no," D laughed, keeping his fist held out. "I'll always be hip." He hoped Hades would humor him. Otherwise, he'd have to be a lot more conspicuous about fulfilling his sister's request.
Hades knew something was going on, but he didn't know what. If only because D was in front of him unannounced. Didn't anyone remember his dislike of surprises and unexpected guests? He didn't need this shit right now. He jabbed his fist to D in hopes that it would just make the house more empty, his eyes already shifting to begin to glare at Persephone. Now he really wished he was back at Hestia's.
D nodded at Hades, making himself comfortable in a nearby armchair. Dahlia glanced curiously from D to Hades, biting her lower lip for a moment. "So...how was your morning, honey?"
Hades glanced no where but her, glaring more.
"That good huh?" Dahlia frowned, bowing her head. "I guess you know something's up...D is here to do me a favor. Because part of detoxing is being totally clean. Which includes alcohol."
... Hades summoned his helm of invisibility and cloaked himself from both their sights. It allowed him to glance at both of them without being observed, clenching his fists tighter and tighter. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest, faster even than the withdrawal symptoms had already made it. “And what does that mean?”
Dahlia held her hands in her lap now, head completely bowed so that her hair obscured as much of her face as she could. She opened her mouth to speak, but fear made her close it again.
D waited for her response a moment before plunging into it. "Means if you try to drink, it's just going to become water once it touches your body. It's only temporary though. I can undo it when you're feeling a little better."
Hades could feel his blood boiling, but being invisible, at least for another moment, he could hold on... “[Please leave, D. This is not a time for company.]”
Dahlia glanced at D, motioning for him to leave. Reluctantly, he rose from the chair, waving at the blank air. "Alright. See you around."
Brushing an unseen hand over his daughter's soft hair, it was all Hades could do to remain in control of himself for just another moment longer. Long enough for the outsider to be gone...
D made his way out of the house. Dahlia sat frozen, waiting for the inevitable shutting sound of the door. Her heart sank. "This is what you're supposed to do, Hades. It's part of the regimen. Please understand that."
Hades grabbed her right by the throat, and stood up, dragging her to her feet. There was no holding on anymore and it wasn't good when a god of repressed emotion was forced to endure emotional outbursts.... and betrayals. Side by side.
Persephone whimpered, her hands reaching up to her throat in an attempt to pry his hands off of her. Her toes ineffectually scraped the floor in an effort to get her footing back.
“Don't mind us, Delaney. We just need to talk...” Hades almost managed it to be pleasant as he dragged-lead her mother right out of the room, and closed the door behind them. He knew their daughter would be fine in the room alone. But he had other things on his mind... And thus, he tossed his former wife right to the floor.
Persephone hit the floor hard, but she was smart enough to lie there and take it. She knew Hades was suffering. She didn't want to fight him. All she wanted was to make herself somewhat safer, and his being invisibly full of rage didn't help that at all.
The sight of her crumbled on the floor at least stop any physical assault from him. Instinct held his body still, but not his tongue, “[You stupid, filthy lying traitor. I forgive you for once thing and you turn and do something else.]”
"[You agreed to detox!]" Persephone shouted, glaring up where his voice had come from. "[But that doesn't mean I think you would have agreed to this step given your current mood.]"
Hades lunged down like a beast, grabbing her by the shoulders and pinning her to the ground. “[I agreed to detox and not you treating me like a child and bringing people to witness my weakness.]”
Persephone frowned, lying passively on the floor. This would pass eventually. Eventually, she'd have Hades back. She just had to wait for these tantrums to pass. "[I'm sorry you feel like I've treated you like a child. I'm just trying to help.]"
“[You are just fucking sorry you are being rebuked.]” Hades got up, his disgust rolling off him in waves as he dusted himself off. “[You have no faith in me. You don't fucking get to atone for being the cause of this by taking control of me. And you certainly do not help by spreading my secrets around. You... You.”
"[You're not going to make me feel bad for trying to help you. I may not be doing a perfect job of it, but at least I am trying]" Persephone murmured softly, remaining on the floor. She stared impassively at the ceiling. "[Dionysus doesn't care. You know he doesn't think less of you.]"
“[I don't fucking care if he cares. I care that he knows.]” Hades stared down at her, but this time it did little to stop him in anyway. If anything it made his temper worse. “[I don't want your help. Not anymore. I don't want help or support from people have no faith in me. I don't want to see you and for as long as I am cursed... because that is what you had him do, I will curse your name. Enjoy.]” He then turned from her and began to storm away.
"[You're wrong,]" Persephone called after him. "[I do trust you. I just thought this way would be easier for you...slip ups are a part of the process. I'm not expecting this to be easy on you, to give up all these things.]"
“[You are the only one who slipped up this day.]” Hades coughed as he moved further down the hallway, “[And if I say I will do something I will!]” He paused only to cough again and growl right through it, “[I wish she was the Devil's! Then I could cut all connection to you! Claim to help me by harming me! Claim you trust me when you don't!]” Where the hell was the door? Damnit, why did he buy her such a big house so long ago?
Persephone frowned, pulling herself up from off the floor. She remained silent, making her way to where her daughter was. She had known this would hurt and hurt badly. She had known Hades would say all manner of terrible things, but that knowledge did nothing to stave off the pain. She reached down for her daughter, trying very hard to keep from crying.
He let the front door slam as hard as he possibly could when he eventually found it, but he didn't depart immediately. For a moment, a long moment, he stared at the house. Too bad he couldn't send the Enrinyes after her. That would be a true curse, but he certainly thought a curse at her as hard as he could. In his very heart of hearts, he wished her to know that he for the first time since he had seen her picking flowers in the world of the living, he didn't want anything to do with in this moment. If she actually felt it was another matter...
He wasn't staying to find out.
He went right to his car. He was done with this place.
