Who: V and Greg
What: Catching up again
Where: Alana's flat
When: Friday, May 22nd
Warnings: Some flirtiness but nothing serious
Val hopped out of her car, walking up to the address that Herakles had given her. She scurried carefully across the street, one hand below her growing belly. Worry gnawed at her insides, and she knew that seeing him alive and well was the only thing that would make her feel better. She rang the doorbell.
"Hold on!" called a voice that was completely new before a man opened up the door. He looked a bit older than Teddy Pullman had. A bit shorter, slimmer, though still clearly very athletic even underneath the slightly baggy clothes. His hair was just as curly, but a dirty blonde instead of the darker brown.
But the smile that spread over his face at the sight of the little woman was exactly the same. "V!"
Val blinked, taking in his appearance. She glanced down at the paper that she'd scrowled his new address on, just to be sure she'd gotten the right place.
"Is...is that you?" She glanced up at his face, that same handsome smile and squeaked. She hopped up on her tiptoes, planting a kiss on his lips.
"[No, I'm actually the Dread Pirate Roberts,]" he said with a laugh just to prove it to her, sweeping her up into his arms to carry her inside.
Val squeaked, wrapping her arms around his neck. "[I'm just so glad you're alright...]"
Offering her a smile, he returned the kiss and sat down to the couch, with her on his lap. "[Thanks, sister. I didn't mean to...]" He paused, feeling his elbow bump into something. Something round and warm and firm. Blinking, he looked down. "[Wow. You weren't kidding about that morning sickness.]"
"[No joke.]" Val murmured, running a hand over her belly. "[I can't imagine it's just one baby in there either...it's so big.]"
"[Multiples run in both our families,]" Val murmured, resting her head against his shoulder. "[I'll be lucky to not get eight babies. But...we're all doing well. And I'm just so glad you're okay. I would've hated for you...to...I dunno. For us to leave on such awkward terms.]"
"[Awkward?]" he asked curiously. Letting her lean against him, he tucked some stray hair behind her ear. Even though he'd chosen a smaller appearance, paranoia with the Egyptians and Subrosa making him desire to be less conspicuous, she was still so tiny...
"[With the way we ended our relationship...]" she murmured, peeking up at him slightly. "[I still feel guilty I guess.]"
"[Don't be. You're happy and in love. I'm, ah, working on that?]"
"[It helps so much that you're here and you're okay,]" Val cooed, leaning in to kiss his cheek. "[You know I love you a lot right?]"
He blushed. Just a bit. "[I know,]" he said as he closed his eyes, enjoying it as much as he allowed himself to. Oh he loved her, too... but she was a married woman now...
"[Maybe this is a good new start for you,]" Val murmured, patting his shoulder. "[Everything new again.]"
He nodded, looking around the apartment. "[Maybe... Alana's been taking really good care of me. I don't know how I can pay her back, really. I can't think of alot of people who'd take in a guy claiming to be a god know for the crazies and let him sleep on her couch.]" Herk smiled a bit, almost wistfully. Yeah. She was pretty great.
Val smiled broadly at that. She knew that look, and it was a very very good look in this case. "[Just don't fall too fast. You may be practically invulnerable but I know there are ways you can get hurt...]" She touched his chest, deep in thought. "[Still, I'm so happy for you.]"
Small sigh. "[Kind of impossible to fall when you're starting to think you've hit the bottom of the barrel... I mean, I...]" He shrugged, scratching his head. "[I don't know. She's just so... so neat. She's athletic and so quirky and strong in her own ways. But there's also this sort of... vulnerable side... she doesn't want to show. When she met, she said she was in a 'all guys suck' stage, I still don't know why, though I know she's known Dad and D for a while...]"
Greg sighed again, staring up to the roof. "[I don't know if I"m falling in love, or if I'm just trying to play the hero again and prove that not all men are assholes. Or both.]" Whoa. That had come all out at once... he smiled back at her, embarassed. "[Sorry. Didn't mean to unload on you.]"
"[You are a hero,]" Val murmured, reaching up to pet his hair gently. "[And I can't see how she wouldn't fall for you if a hero is what she needs.]"
He smiled. Maybe... "[I'm just gonna see where it goes. I'd just like to see her happy, really. Dealing with all of us? She pretty much deserves it.]"
"[You're probably right about that...]" Val giggled, pulling herself up from his lap. "[I should get going...]"
"[You sure? I've got coffee, bought myself some food.]" Mostly so he didn't eat all of Alana's and piss her off.
"[I shouldn't be away from home too long...]" Val said with a shrug. "[Besides, if Alana comes back, well, I don't want to get in the way.]" She winked at him cheekily, backing away towards the door.
"[Well, if you're sure.]" Before she could reach it -- easily done with her current status and his long legs -- he opened up the door for her. "[If you need anything though, or just want company, gimme a call here? Ask for Greg, Greg Lyon, my new name.]" Smiling, he gave her a delicate kiss to the lips. Aww. He missed this, really.
Val's heart fluttered just a little, but she kept it under wraps. She smiled and touched his cheek gently. "[Okay, and if you need anything, call me. Okay?]"
"[Will do. You'll be the first to know.]" He bent down a bit to give her a better reach, hugging her gently, before walking her out to her car feeling considerably... happier.
Summary: Relieved to see him alive, V goes over for a visit. The two relax together, looking forward to her baby even as he laments his love life. Gosh they're cute!
