Who: Dionysus and Apollo What: Making Up Where: Mostly Artemis's house When: 5/14 Warning: None
Dionysus was quiet as he sat in his car waiting for Apollo. He blew contemplative smoke rings into the air. It was hard to say if his quick text war with his beau had truly cleared the air. It was also hard to say if the tentative peace he'd made with Hades for the sake of taking care of Persephone would last. Now that he just had himself and his thoughts, Dionysus had a lot to think about.
And he was a fairly selfish person. That was not to be underestimated.
Apollo tried his hand at being optimistic about the way the text conversation had turned out, but it was hard to manage considering everything that had been going on.
He had managed to shoo off the creepy whores, and made a bee-line for D's car once he spotted it sitting in the lot. Fuck. Finally. When he reached the car, he tossed a pair of books onto the floor in the front, and collapsed into the passenger's seat. Mrrr.
D took another long drag before tossing his cigarette out into the street. He turned on the ignition, and his car sprang to life. He glanced over at Apollo. "Where are we going anyway?"
Aw. He threw the cigarette away. Apollo could have used one right about now. Lame. He leaned over far enough to rest his head against his brother's shoulder. "Temporary home, unless you were thinking of someplace else. Thinking is hard..."
D kept one hand on the wheel, reaching up to pat Apollo's cheek. "Ok. You still have to tell me where temporary home is."
Mmm~ He tilted his head a bit so he could kiss D's palm, and then nodded. "Mmyep. I can probably manage that..." Hopefully. And if they were lucky, he'd only get them lost a couple times!
That little bit of affection definitely helped Apollo's case in D's head. "I thought schoolwork was all remedial for you anyway."
"It is. My head's been fucked since that day in the living room. Being angry is tiring." As if to emphasize his point, Apollo yawned. "And then I had to beat those cheerleaders off me..."
"I'll fuck them up for you if you want," D offered, sincerity in his voice. "You should've used the syringe..."
"Do you mean that in a 'beat them up' kinda way, or the other sorta way that you would normally talk about hot cheerleaders...?" Nuzzle. "I forgot about it and then when Artemis took me back the next day it'd sat out too long and I didn't think I should use it so I just pitched it instead..." Alas.
"In a...'give them nightmares they'll never get over' kinda way." That was just how D rolled. He let Apollo's excuses roll past him, choosing instead to go back to the topic of directions. "Where am I going? Seriously."
"That's a fun way too~" He cracked an eye open to check that they were still in the parking lot, then promptly directed D to leave said lot.
The directions were fairly straightforward, and the house was hard to miss, what with Apollo's bright yellow car sitting out in front of it. Hooray.
D drove in relative quiet, pulling in behind Apollo's car and resisting the urge to accidentally nick it. Afterall, he was tired from the ordeal too. "Need help with your books?"
Apollo sat up reluctantly once the car stopped, and leaned forward to collect the books on the floor. He shook his head. "Just three; I got'em. Need something to fend the beasts off with..." Crazy mutts.
He pushed the door open and then shut again after stepping out, and dug around awkwardly in his pocket for the house key; he could already hear the animals frantic yapping as he made his way up the stairs. Pfft.
Dionysus lingered in the car. Did he want to go in? Was it worth it? He sighed, eventually deciding that there might be something in it for him if he followed Apollo into the sister's place. He'd just have to make sure to get around actually meeting the sister at this juncture.
He supposed, as he pushed the door open and herded the dogs into the backyard, that it'd been stupid of him to assume that D would just...follow. After all, he'd screwed it all over and no text message was going to fix that. Dumping his books on the table, he tried to convince himself not to think about it; sleeping for the rest of the day would help that along perfectly. Sigh.
Dionysus slipped silent in through the door, standing behind Apollo and watching him dump his books on the table, watching him sigh. "Nice of your sister to let you stay here..."
Oh. Heh. He'd come inside.
Turning around, he shifted somewhat nervously and glanced around the room briefly before looking at D. "Didn't...think you were coming in." And scurrying along to the next topic...! "Yeah. She's...yeah."
Judging by Apollo's reactions, Dionysus could assume that Artemis wasn't home. He smiled, catching Apollo's chin and planting a kiss on his lips.
That...made him feel slightly better. Kissing was good. Always good. You couldn't mess up kissing. Well, not when you had hundreds of years of practice, anyway.
He took a step closer, and slid his arms around D's neck. Cling!
Dionysus grinned, continuing the kiss as he manuevered Apollo over to the couch. This boded very well of them, very well indeed. It seemed like they could still relate to one another, even after this fight, and for that Dionysus was most pleased.
Except that Apollo resisted the couch. Compared to their own, it was sort of small, though he'd managed rather nicely on it a few nights ago with with wriggling dogs for company. But even so. Beds were better. Beds let him fall asleep after whatever it was they were going to be doing. And just in case Artemis brought any friends home, they wouldn't be greeted with something that would be awkward for her to explain.
So he attempted to tug him down the hall instead.
Hall was good. D could do the hall. He grinned, letting Apollo lead them to a bed. He hefted the blonde up in his arms, curling up on the bed with the sun god in his lap.
This was much better. It was warm and comfortable and reassuring. Well, mostly reassuring. He rested his head against D's chest and closed his eyes.
"You're still mad at me?"
D let his head rest against the wall, cradling Apollo to him. "I'm not mad...you're just on probation." He smiled, glancing down at the blonde hair in front of him. "It helps that you're cute."
He curled up a little more and glanced down at his hands, which were occupied by playing with D's shirt. "You should just...not listen to most of what I say anymore...."
"Don't say that...I'll take it to heart and never listen to you again~" D teased, running his hand down Apollo's spine.
Sulk. "Maybe things would work out better that way..." Well, the frustration might kill Apollo somehow, but everyone else would have an easier time of things.
"Well, sometimes you can be right....and you help keep my head on straight," D smiled, nuzzling Apollo tenderly. "Don't count yourself totally out."
Sigh. "I hate it when you're mad at me, and everything I do works towards that even when I don't mean it to. Everyone else I know could hate me and it wouldn't bother me half as much as it would if it were just you."
"You act like I won't get over it," D laughed, shaking his head. "My moods pass...probably more quickly than for anyone else."
"Maybe, but you don't forget things, no matter how much you drink." He squirmed around until he was in a comfortable position that allowed him to hide his face in D's neck. "Are you sure you don't want to stay here with me...?"
"I'm pretty sure," D murmured, running a hand over Apollo's back. "But it has nothing to do with you. I just dunno how much your sister would appreciate having me around."
Apollo managed a little laugh. "She might be a little ticked off at first, but I wouldn't let her hurt you. After that I'm sure she won't care; she did see what the house looks like now. Besides, if I wanted you to stay here, she wouldn't kick you out."
"I'll come to visit you...probably more than she'd like anyway," D admitted, glancing up at the ceiling. "But you're busy. One of us has to take care of the house."
"You make it sound like she's going to hate you or something." He tilted his head to kiss D's jaw. "What's to take care of anyway? It's like a tornado hit it on the inside."
"I can hire some contractors. Find some new furniture. Get a new tv," D said, shrugging his shoulders. "It'll be back to good before you know it."
"That coffee table was an antique...I carved it myself." Siiigh. So much for lasting art. "Take it out back and burn it; proper burial and all..."
"I'll make sure everything gets taken care of," D murmured, playing with a strand of Apollo's hair. "All I'm asking is for you to trust me."
"I think I can manage that..." he said quietly. For the next few minutes he stayed quiet, as if he might have fallen asleep, until he twitched and spoke up again. "Don't feed the animals while you're at home; I called someone to do it cause I didn't know when anyone would be back."
"Duly noted," D smiled, continuing to rub a hand along Apollo's back. "So....I take it you're too tired to fool around..."
Yawn~ "If you keep doing that I will be, so choose wisely and quickly." Snerk. Either option was just fine with him because the alternative could also be done too, later.
Dionysus immediately took his hands off of Apollo. "Also duly noted."
Snicker. "I thought so. Which is not a complaint in the least." Kiss~
D happily returned the kiss, flipping Apollo over to be over him on the bed. It looks like they were going to make up afterall...
